First grow, question about genetics 1

On my first grow, itβs (nearly) harvest time, one of my three small multispore tubs produced a fruit that finished a couple days earlier than anything as well as being more than twice as fat as any other fruits in the tub. My question is if I was to take a tissue culture of said fruit and grow it out, would the next generation inherit these traits, Or some of them? Thanks!

It will branch out on agar into multiple "strains".
You will get a lot of similar traits, if you take a spore print instead of a clone you will get way less similar but still somewhat similar traits.

There is a lot of discussion as to whether a clone has multiple strains in it but the short answer to your question is yes

Great, I took several tissue samples to agar today, interested to see what I come up with thanks for the knowledge.

If you're cloning from a tissue sample, how is there anything other than that single "offspring" from the original MS? Are you suggesting two separate grows that both start with a tissue sample of the same fruit will not be genetically identical? I don't understand how that could be possible, or why it would be up for debate. Maybe I'm misunderstanding some basic concepts of mushroom reproduction.

Itβs pretty confusing. From my understanding some people think itβll be identical and others think thereβs a ton of random genetics in the mushrooms. Once you clone it the mycelium will grow out and all the genes are on the table again depending on what other mycelium it links up with.
Again I have absolutely no idea if thatβs correct but I think thatβs the gist of it.

Fungal breeding can involve multiple parent spores, when two germinated spores mate this forms a fruiting βstrainβ but there may be more than one distinct strain in a fruit body. For more discussion on the subject read this thread.
