Adequate lighting
    #26338898 - 11/22/19 07:26 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

I'm finding alot of mixed information in regards to LED vs Fluorescent lighting. I have a closet with a basic wall outlet so something that could be plugged in is necessary. I was looking at this https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Integrated-Fixture-Utility-electric/dp/B01HBT32PW/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=corded%2Blight%2Btube&qid=1574471025&s=hi&sr=1-6&th=1 because I read the tubes are better than an individual light bulb. I can only find fluorescent tubes that would require some electrical work so im leaning towards the simplicity of that LED.

1. Will the LED in the link work or is there a better option?
2. If fluorescent is better what should i use?

Any and all info appreciated!!

Just get a regular cfl. You really dont need much light. I use a bedroom window
and the ceiling fixture with a single  6500k cfl. Sometimes I'll use a t5 light
that I have lying around but point is I run my tubs in stacks of 5 and still
get good flushes. Lighting isn't tbat huge of a deal.

Ambient light is more then adequate with proper genetics

I recommend lots of light!  Sure they can grow in the dark, and even a bit of light is fine but it’s hard to go overkill.  Light affects caps, tanning and structure.

A lot of LED talk is out of date and about older designs, I don’t know about the one’s you linked specifically but a modern LED with a high CRI number is equal to CFLs if not better.

Sunlight is generally so much more intense than artificial light that depending on your location, a window can easily equal a bag of CFLs.

I too recommend a shitload of light. Personally i ended up using a bunch of 2' 5000k led strips. Shrooms love that shit.

I was about to post a similar question. There’s so much conflicting information but I see so many awesome grows in shoeboxes with the lids on the entire time until the shrooms get too tall that I can’t imagine it making a difference unless everything else was perfect.

I’m new I’ve only just taken the first flush off my second shoebox and they were decent yields and healthy looking but pretty small mushrooms. I’ve heard lack of light can do that but also genetics and too much or little water.

I just leave the shoeboxes with the lids on near a big window so I think more light is mostly an extra that’s not worth worrying about until you’ve mastered everything else.

To each there own. I've not really noticed any huge differences between
every stack getting a light and just having my ceiling light on with the window
blind slightly open
