where are contams coming from? how to handle properly?

i recently saw a post saying if your mycelium is stuck and not moving, to just flip it over and tap it a few times. i did and mycelium has spread down already over night. but blue/greenish contams have showed up at the top, look almost black in some spots. i ended up taking off the top layer, it was dryer and easily came out. am i getting contamination from my jar lids? i keep them in a dead fridge so it stays room temp and is filtered a bit better. also was i supposed to take the contams out? i always read to take it out or leave it in, and i don't see the point to letting a mycelium/ bacetria warfare break out in my jar. i'd appreciate any input as to where you think i went wrong. i am a newby btw,

Toss that jar, it’s beyond saving. Next time, follow the tek to a T.
P.s. The dry verm layer acts as a filter. You should avoid disturbing it.

coarse verm doesn't filter as well as fine verm. So between that and your flipping/hitting it, you probably disrupted and churned up the molds in the dry verm enough to get through to your cake.
No more flipping and more patience. The jar barely started colonizing before you decided it was to slow.

ah yeah I figured I was being inpatient and I was trying to do brf tek but I had a few woopsys, like to much mostuire, and I cooked in a crock pot (Don't make fun of me) but do you think filters are needed for the jar, I can add a picture of my incubation boxes to give you an idea of the filter system I came up with

I removed the contams though, is it not able to be saved? if not im just curious why, I removed some mycelium from a similar jar with the green fuzzy contams all around it, into a little tub and mycelium growth has been good and white in there

No dry verm is the filter. You don't need to incubate or filter air in the area. These things sit on a shelf at room temp.
There's no saving that.

can you help me understand why it can't be saved? and I understand verm is the filter, the verm got damp from over moisture and it all got messed up. I understand that. but are you sure this incubator wont help insure the contams will stay out? the back part would be filled with poleyester, this would just allow me to stack up the mini fridge with spawn jars without filters, and watch until they colonize.

Incubators are useless and (like any part of your house) filled with contam spores.
You only removed the VISIBLE parts of the mold. Rest assured, it is still present in the jar.

what he said.
Plus now all that uncolonized stuff was exposed to open air, it'll be mold in a few days jsut from that exposure.
You'll never make spawn without a filter(cept unmodded lids) even if that doo-hicky is sufficiently filterd. You'll catch contams from the air on the way to it.
Follow the teks in the stickied list at top of forum till you get a grip on things. You're attempting substitutions and upgrades that don't quite make sense or work like you think they might.

is there a internal type of change with the mycelium when exposed to the air? or is it just contamination that's the problem?

air contains molds and bacteria. that's why it's filter air exchanged, sterilized jars, and inoculating as sterile as possible. You have sterile nutrients in those jars after pc'ing/steaming, any air contams that finds itself on there is gonna flourish.
