Salvia. What's happening with my plant?

My plant's leaves started to curl from the tips toward the stem. Stem turns black at the base and a little above. I didn't overwater. May it be a root rot? Should i take cuttings now before it's too late? If so, where would you cut the main steam to obtain cutting?

Thanks, chem.

That's a very hard plant to grow. I think most people have issues. What is the humidity? I believe salvia enjoys humidity.

I don't measure it in detail, but the plant is sprayed with water 2x a day, sometimes once and watered as needed once in 3-4 days or until the pot is light to pick up. Could the low temperature be the cause of this? It's a pretty chilly place where she stands. It really is hard to grow, this is my second attempt. Previous one rotted. But this one was really fast growing and healthy, looked beautifully green. And actual condition occured several days ago. PS she is about 3,5 months old, propagated from cutting. Here are some extra photos from different grow stages.

Cheers, chem.

I would think low temps is a no no. Salvia was as far as we know from Mexico. They do not actually know where from. One family in Mexico had the only salvia in the world when discovered.

As far as I know optimal temperature range is 15-27 degrees celcius and they can endure 10 degrees. She has around 13-15 but there are serious fluctuations lately during the day, which may or may not be the case. What are your opinions? Also, where to cut main stem for a cutting? 3-4 node? Anyone tried to make a cutting out of rooted leaf?

I've found the guilty. Fungus gnats. They settled in pot soil damaging the roots. I scraped a little soil from top and many small white larvae showed up. I'm proceeding to make organic pesticide which I will apply in the evening. Cheers, chem.

Stop watering. Let the pot become dry and wait until the plant starts to wilt before watering.
Don't keep it wet.
If it's Winter or cold where you are then the plant slows down a lot. No need to water all the time. It may get sad from time to time. As spring comes along and temps improve, the new growth that comes through will be like the last picture you posted.
Adding a quarter-third of perlite to your potting mix will be beneficial in your situation.
Be a bit mean to her and she will respond in kind. I mean, less water, less spray, let her adjust. She will sook and get spotty, but should pull through if you've come this far. You did well to grow from such a small cutting. Keep going. Persist again if she dies.
Perhaps move her away from the windowsil at night. The glass gets quite cold at night.

I agree, looks like overwatering.
