Is this growth on agar mycelium?

Hi guys,
This is my first time on agar because I have had some failures on BRF before getting a PC.
With that being said, I used PDA agar, following pasty's easy agar tek. The work was done in an SAB with sterilized cotton swabs. I only did 3 plates 5 days ago . The other two are not showing anything yet. The growth looks a bit fuzzy to me, not really seeing the usual myc pattern. What do you guys think?

Definitely mold, spores can take a while to germinate on agar so dont toss the others yet. Hope you get some cleaner growth on the others.

You're definitely right! thanks for the quick feedback

SannyTIES said: Congratulations! You have officially germinated some contaminants! Petri dishes , once you use them you'll never use another pp5 again. I used them for long time too. I find it easier to control moisture in the dish with poured agar. Let it cool until you can hold the glass container from which you pour. Then no excess moisture. Also you can stack 30 of then in a place where u could put 3 pp5 containers.
Hahaha! that was fun to read At least I germinated something lol. Thank you for the tip, I was trying not to spend too much but you are right, petri disches are most likely worth the investment.

Thank you for letting me know. I will throw out this one and keep an eye on the other ones.

I'll respectfully disagree; both have their advantages. I love my poured petris, but not much beats the ease of a tiger drop for grain inoculation.
Volume also makes a huge difference; if you're running 4 or 5 different projects and burning through agar, disposable petris are a godsend. On the other hand, if you're only planning on running a single culture, I think the ease of no pours is hard to beat.
In the interest of honesty(and to the credit of your point) aside from slants, I haven't bothered doing no pours since I made the jump, but I've constantly thought about it🤣
