First cultivation attempt = fail!

I was going for a mix between convenience and DIY, so I ordered 2 spawn bags and some spores from a well known vendor around here.
Inoculated the bags, and set them up on a shelf where the temp hovers around 76f. Everything looked fine. I checked 2, then 3 weeks later and nothing. After 6 weeks it was clearly over! No growth at all.
Now I'm ready to try again, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can learn from this experience, i.e. any mistakes I might avoid next time. But, I didn't really do much!
It could just be a bad batch of spores, I'm sure that happens sometimes, right? Maybe a bad batch of grain but I can't imagine that.
Is there anything I might consider before I try again? I also moved from CO to CA so suddenly I am faced with a new challenge of where to get the next syringes

Weeell... I'll tell you what probably happened. If you got your syringe from a trusted vendor (you should not use ms syringes in grain)- your grain was fucked over by poor sterilization/too wet/etc... and encountered bacteria, very likely. Hard to tell exactly what happened but buy grain and prep it yorself. There is a lot of hit and miss associated with pre-made bags (not as much with jars but I see jars from online come too wet fairly often). I'm not sure what to tell you about getting spores therem but prints would be easiest to get through I'd imagine. Get agar when you do so you have soome insurance and can have something clean to introduce to your grain. Best of luck.

I'm sure if you ask you can find some prints or swabs around here somewhere. If you meet the requirements people on the marketplace are rather generous as well. Start with agar.

Just keep trying is all I can say. I don't know why your spores didn't germinate in your bags. Sometimes shit happens. Perhaps they did go bacterial, but after 6 weeks, that should have been unmistakable.
Maybe order spores from someone else next time.
Check foreign spore suppliers, some will send to California.

Ita considered bad practice to go from spore to grains. So FYI, try not to do that. Next time use agar or a liquid culture then inject into a grain bag.
Also learn how to DIY your grains and u will set yourself up for sucess

I first wanted to buy grain-bags instead of making my own jars, for the convenience and my fear of fucking things up.. But it's really easy to do. There are some instructional videos on YT on how this is done. This is where I learned it.
On the other hand, next step is spawning in bulk, which I am afraid to fuck up But I guess the key is mostly keeping things sterile, and using the right materials.

Did You shake the syringe? Not likely but you may have knocked them up with just water if you didn't distribute the spores..still should start on agar though

Sounds like all convenience and no DIY🤷🏻♂️
You put all your eggs in one basket. A shitty basket. You can weave way better baskets at home...you get the point.
I inoculated grain jars with spores. First time, 7/7 jars were a success. Second time, 7/7 again. Third syringe was bunk and 0/7 jars have growth💩. Lesson learned, now I go to agar first. Don’t play progressive slots. Play poker instead.
