Aborts Everywhere!

Hello friends.
So I’m on my second flush. I think... I may have messed up.i let the fruits grow out a little too much and spores got everywhere. Substrate is now black on top. I harvested all my fruits and didn’t actually notice how many mushrooms were still growing before soaking for my second flush. Now I have a bunch of aborts everywhere. Some fresh mushrooms growing in already.
Should I pick out all the aborts from the substrate? Is it a problem for the spores to be everywhere? Top substrate mostly black? Thanx shroomery!

I just let my cakes go to long and had a bunch of spores covering my cake and perlite. They seem to be still producing. Wondering on this info too

Thanx for the quick response. Mine are fruiting as well. Just not full pin sets...

when spores are dropped heavily future flushes will be rather poor. Molds have been known to develop before another flush can be produced. once mycelium makes a full spore drop it will "shut down" since that is the final step of its life cycle.
pins are able to be dunk/soaked.

You should pick the aborts, they can be dried and eaten. The spores shouldn’t be an issue besides looks.

The aborts are so small I would rather just take them out of the substrate. So many and I have not had time. I guess my real question is: are the aborts draining the substrate of anything? Thanx for the replies.

No; aborts have stopped growing and will wither and die if left alone which can give mold an opportunity to set up shop. That, and the little guys can often have some extra punch. Two good reasons to harvest and dry them.
-------------------- "I thought to myself 'Boy, I'm sure glad there's nobody here to see this because this is exactly the sort of thing that gets people riled-up and they assume you're dying and that something has to be done. Where if you're alone, you know, you either come through it or you die, but in any case you avoid the fuss.'" - Terrence McKenna

Ok great! I’m just being lazy. I’ll get this work done. Thanx again.
