Boletus? Non blue staining.
    #26335116 - 11/21/19 06:47 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

I got to school hours early and decided to see what the woods held in store for me.

At the tail end of my trip I came across the largest of the mushrooms that I found - what I would guess are Boletes? Are they called Boletes? Boletus.

Anyways, I found many species, but this one I'd really like others opinion on.

I included photos of 2 specimens.

Appears to be a Tylopilus species. Where in the world were these growing?

Could it be Leccinum holopus? At least in the first two pictures?

Near my school in South Florida. Seemed to be from just grass and dirt, tall grass but densely natural area, and therefore lots of rotting wood everywhere. Didnt take note to dig unfortunately.

I see no scabers but a dark reticulum on the stem in the second picture. Also the hymenium appears to have a shade of pink.

The first specimen had tissue taken from it and it was indeed a pinkish color. I have a picture but it's small and vague. Will post if needed.

Hey, where in South Florida? I'm finding loads of these exact same ones literally everywhere right now. Hundreds at this point.

Could be something near Tylopilus rhoadsiae or Tylopilus peralbidus.
