Turkey Tail and what?
    #26333778 - 11/20/19 02:49 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

I inoculated some logs last winter (I live in Georgia) I labeled the logs but ll labels have since weathered off. I did a log each of Turkey Tail, Lion's Mane and Reishi. I had a forth log that had both Turney tail on one half and Lions Mane on the other (leftover plugs). I finally have what I'm sure is turkey tail growing. The weird thing is that on the same logs, I have these whiteish grey fuzzy lumps growing as well. In addition, the turkey tail seem to be growing off a thick white foot. Others that I have seen seem to have a very small foot on each mushroom connecting it to the log.

Are the thick white feet normal? Could the turkey tail and Lion's Mane be growing on the same log? Could the turkey tail be growing on small Lion's Mane fruit? Sorry for so many questions, this is my first time growing my own mushrooms and I want to be sure they are safe to eat! I've posted this on Reddit and other forums and haven't received a response so any help s much appreciated.

Both images look like turkey tails to me. No polypores are poisonous that I know of.  You cant eat reishi or turkey tails either, they are rather tough

@ No polypores are poisonous that I know of.

Hapalopilus nidulans is toxic for example.

Are those grey fuzzy balls just how Turkey tail starts before fanning out?

I plan on drying them out and making capsules.

Probably should have not said that. More like a majority of polypores are none poisonous? Always an exception to the rule.
