Super lazy oak tek. Keep it easy and lazy...grab a 50 pound bag of whole oats for horses...dump 2 1/2 inches of oats in a qaurt jar then add 7 ounces of water...cap it with 1/4 inch hole in the center of the cap and cover with micropore tape or poly ect...throw in pc for 1hr 45 min...my pc is only 12psi...so times can be adjusted...no rinse no soak no joke...anyone can do this....i get perfect spawn every time...after pressure releases pull jar out hot and shake it like a salt shaker...do that a few times as its kooling and u will have perfect oats each time...been tested with a dozen jars or more....happy oats ...

2.5" seems like a terrible way to weasure grain volume. Is there maybe a mark on the jar or an actual volume you'd recommend. Might wanna flesh this out a bit. S3ems ambitious for your first post. Let's make this a bit easier to replicate. No prep oats would be nice, but unless this is different measurements than Caps prepless tek then were getting to be a bit redundant. Ive got a lot of oats left. Showe the way of the oat side Oatman...

I do something very similar.
I eyeball the level of oats to just under half (40-45%) of the quart jar. Then add water till its about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the top off the oats. PC and shake it once while hot. This gets it to a full quart. Sometimes I’ll put a bit less if I’m doing g2g.
Can’t go directly from the bag tho, my oats are super dusty and it makes the grains clumpy and gross. I take a hair dryer and blow all that dust and empty hulls out before I put in the jars.
Works good tho!

Here's a real quick oat tek for ya... 👍
Premeasure in jar, soak in jar, pc soaking wet
It's my hybrid oat tek in my signature.

I just recently did this and shook a hot jar that promptly broke. Sucked on many levels.
Now I shake over a spare tub, just makes it easier in case of catastrophe!
Be safe out there.

I've never had even a bit of luck with no prep teks I'll get mush at the bottom and dry grains on the top. Plus with the "cleaned" oats that infuse I'd get mud that's how damn dirty my oats are dirtiest grains I've ever used and it wasn't just the one bag I went through 2 bags from this brand have 4 left... never again.

My oats super dirty too. Just put it in a big bowl and hit it with a hair dryer. Blows all the dust and empty hulls out. Won’t get all that bs. Fill water under the oat level about a 1/4 or 1/2 inch and comes out perfect everytime. Just don’t put too much oats because they expand after absorb water.
Shake the wet grains so they mix with the dry grains on top and like I said, comes out perfect 👌🏼

I would be more worried about my lungs in this case I'd rather just rinse the grains then load them and add more water but at the same time no prep just isn't for me once the bottom grains turn to mush redistributing the moisture isn't going to help. I like controlling every aspect in cultivation. Taking time to do everything right and paying close attention to detail. I dont mind putting forth the effort. For me it's not about getting mushrooms its therapeutic. I love cult and I refuse to cut corners. I would never hate on anyone elses methods just alot of them aren't for me.

Gotcha, yea I just don’t breath the dust lol
I got it dialed in where I don’t get mush anymore, just nice clean, hydrated grains.
I hear ya on that, teachers own!
I just like letting people know because, for me, it’s about time. the time I wasted rinsing, cooking, drying, then pc. there goes half my saturday!
I sometimes i work 60 or more hours a week and don’t want to use free time on stuff I don’t have to and wish someone would have told me sooner lol
Teachers own, cheers!

Sweet thanks man. So you’re saying no soaking, no rinsing, no boiling, no gypsum? Sounds lazy and easy. I love the sound of that...

I know what you mean. I started with using Fahtsters "quick step rye prep" and got nothing but mush on several different grain:water ratios. A couple of rounds ago I tried oats this way and got great results.

Just thought I'd mention that you might need to elevate the jars from the bottom more so than usual ? Mush sounds like they are getting too much high heat. Put some rings or similar under the metal thing in the pressure cooker and see if that makes a difference. I do get dry grains at the top, but once you shake them down and let the whole jar cool, the moisture redistributes and the dry grains plump up.

Yeah you definitely get some burst kernels near the bottom but a shake while still warm distributes them and it wasn’t more than a small layer on the bottom. Never had problems with colonization or contams. you were getting all burst kernels? That’s definitely unusual.
I was pretty lazy back then though... if I were to do rye again, I’d just do the 40 minute simmer.. it’s pretty easy too.
I’m glad it worked for your oats though! Could also be your rye started off less dry that what I was using back in the day.
