Concealed carry
    #26332667 - 11/20/19 05:19 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Hey guys, well I've pulled my knifes a total of 7 times this year. guess i'm going to get a gun.... had 2 claim they had gun but run when i pulled my bowie.

Here is my issue i live in FL even during winter i wear normally just jeans n a tank top. I plan on carrying a full sized 10-15 shot hand gun. Any tips on carry style? really didn't wanna be one of those guys reaching in to their crotch for a gun playing with there dick. Was thinking about wearing a sleeveless jacket and tucking under my arm with hostler?? best bet??

Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Get yourself a decent IWB holster and carry your firearm around 4-5 O'Clock, if you are right handed off course. This is the safest and most comfortable way (for me at least).

I wear tight t-shirts most of the time and carry a full size pistol and it is barely visible even less obvious to people not carrying as they are always in their green zone not observing and knowing what is going on around them.

The only drawback with this is when you are driving it is difficult to get to your firearm without some hassle. But there are solutions for this. you will just have to invest a bit more in a car holster.

I’ve got an FN .45, 17rd and only way I carry that on me is shoulder holster, there is no iwb with that cannon.  I did get the ol lady a .380 couple years ago for mother’s day and that’s great IWB, pocket, wherever.  I’ve been leaning to getting a short barrel 9mm......speaking of car holsters, anybody have experience with those magnetic ones that just magnetize to the slide?

Had to look that one up, slick little belly gun there!  One thing that gets me, is the .380s with a laser......if you’re pulling that .380 you’re going to be close enough that laser isn’t necessary 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hey man, they're right, why do you need a gun 7 times in one year?

tl:dr specific recommendations for what they worth

Had a carry permit for 16 years and have never brandished once!  There were a couple of times I was glad I had it when I lived in the city limits tho, I must admit.

Buy the gun first, holster to fit the gun.

.38spl or .38spl +P, 5-shot Ruger LCR or S&W 642.  The Ruger is cheaper and has the lightest weight. Best value, reliability, and ease of use.  Buy 2 speed-loaders, they're cheap.

Get a cheapo Uncle Mike's nylon pocket holster for $10 that fits a 5-shot revolver.  They are super-lightweight and cover the trigger guard.

You don't need any permission in the US to carry a firearm on your own property, home or work.  In most states you are allowed to carry from home to work and back.  Some states allow you to stop along  the way, some not.

I worked at a gun store, this was the most fun part, figuring out the right piece for each person situations and lifestyle.

The +P means the gun/ammo is ready for higher pressures than regular .38spl, but not as high as .357.  Trust me: if you've never shot a super-light .357mag it hurts your hand.  A lot.

You will always be able to get cheap ammo for a .38, so no excuse not to practice.  Find cheap, light target loads for practice.  Or learn to reload them, super-cheap!

Again, why do you need the gun in your hand that often?  There must be something you can fix before adding instant access to a firearm to the mix.

If you have a felony, don't bother.  Get a friend to protect your situation and worry about something else.  Don't get a friend to buy a gun for you.  Ever.  Good luck!

If you live in a bad area go with a compact gun. Go with the m&p compact or glock 19. It doesn't make very much sense to go with the full sized because you're only getting around a .5 extra barrel length and it's more difficult to conceal. I like 9mm myself. It'll allow you to shoot more often because of the price of ammo and it still gets the job done...

For semi-autos: Kahr, Glock, H&K, Sig Sauer, Browning, others?

Avoid pretty much anything else, Hi-Point more than any.  Avoid old S&W auto-loaders, tho M&P line is good.

Personally, I love inside the pocket or inside the pants.  GALCO makes GREAT, cheap, leather inside-the-pants (clips on belt) holsters for $25 that last a lifetime.  There's a leather snap to lock the piece in place.  They start out soft, but get really nicely formed to the piece over time.

With a Kahr P-40 in one of the Galco holsters I used to lay down on top of it on my sectional couch while I watched movies.  It was not uncomfortable.

Capacity is not important.  FBI says for self-defense, 21 feet and 2.5 shots is most likely.

I sold a Glock 21 to guy because he was 6'6" and could wield a 13-shot .45 canon like that while he guards an inner city liquor store.  If you're not getting paid, who would carry that beast?

Wot's your physique?  What are you wearing? Seriously, how you're built and what you do is the information need for the right choices.

Glock 23 is good choice too, it shoots .40 and is much easier to conceal, and easier to hold for some people, than the full sized Glock 22.

Glock 19 is a GREAT choice for 9mm.

I had a glock 23. In my opinion the glock 19 is superior.

Shoulder holsters are sorta like boxer shorts:  things gonna flop around.

I like to feel the iron against my hip, inches from my right arm.  Comforting.

As Kramer said on Seinfield: "My boys need a house."

I would carry a S&W MP.  I love the grip on those things, fits the human hand perfectly, the better to hit what you're shooting at.

A guy at the gun store runs them down but I think they are light years better than the old Sigma line and I've never met a broken one.  A reliable choice.

RE: Glock 19 v 23, yeah, your mileage may vary.  Same gun to me.  More, lighter, faster bullets vs. heavier projectiles and -2 rds.  I'd call it a draw but you might not.

You asked for opinions, so here they are.  Trust yourself armed with the info.

With inside-the-pants all you need is a big shirt to conceal, the bigger the better.

All just my 2c

appendix carry is where it is at for me. good iwb holster preferable with retention incase you get into a physical altercation.
depending on my day varying calibers all appendix. I would get some tactical cqc shorts. makes life easier when in stupid hot weather and don't wanna wear pants
a good belt is nice too
and CCW insurance

My shoulder holster is for working on tractor/out on the property, definitely can’t see myself comfortably being in public trying to conceal my FN .45!  Only thing I dislike about my .380 is the hand grip.  My pinky gets left hangin!  I have been considering revolver or compact 9mm to carry with though.

A s&w shield is super common amongst Ccw holders Bc of it’s single stack mag. A glock 26 is a good option too. With both of those your pinky will be hanging unless you get the mag/grip ext.
Snub noses are always kick ass.
Being comfortable in public with a mag 4” or full size .45 can be hella hard.

Things are usually common for a reason. The mp shield is one of the best carry guns on the planet. You want something comfortable to carry that's also  highly functional. Theres no way I would carry a full sized gun everyday. Even a glock 19 is a pain in the ass to carry. If I didn't already own a shield I would probably buy the hellcat.

The hellcat is nicer than the shield. My mom got one.

But the shield you can buy in .40s&w and get a 9mm barrel and also 357sig too.

If you get the 9mm shield you can run .40s&w but you gotta do some shaving down of metal on the slide or barrel.

Im a dumbass and got the 9mm shield then realized the 40 shield is far superior because for $100 extra dollars it fires 9mm too with no modifications besides the barrel and mags. Though people say you can runs 9mm in the 40 mag i wouldn't want a FTF even at the range.

Seems like there's a few types who carry full size guns. G17 and 1911 carry people more often than not seem like the people who are waiting for their opportunity to shoot someone who doesn't look like them.

I’d imagine your 1911s are more common carry in places with open carry, but there are the ones that will......I take my .45 as a side arm hunting or on longer road trips.  The bersa thunder .380 does have a nice feel in the hand though.  I’m likely going to add revolver to the lineup next though.

The sig p365 or hellcat is best option if not restricted in your state. If it is shield will most likely be your best option.

100% facts!!!. The best thing to do is go to the store and hold both the sig p365 and hellcat. Pick the one that's more comfortable for your hand. They're definitely the best carry gun's out of the box. I'm just going to wait for m&p and glock to release their next generation of single stack pistols. Obviously they're going to release something to compete with those guns. I think most of the next generation of guns are going to have Stippling, an optic cut and night sights. It's going to be amazing unless Biden becomes president and fucks our gun laws up! Fuck I hate that guy !!
