Can UV-C light be used to sterilize spore syringes?

I know that most syringes contain at least a small amount of contamination. Is UV-C light safe for mushroom spores and does UV-C light kill mold spores and other types of contamination?

just keep them in the package until use, and don't forget to flame the needle. best of luck.

I was under the impression that UV-C damaged spores.

No.
Well, I guess in theory yes, but like gizmo said, you'd kill everything.
Just lean agar, lol

To attempt to kill unwanted organisms in the syringe.

I do. I just wanted to know if the light may help at all. I have one on my HEPA filter air purifier so it would be handy if it worked. I don't the resources to test it so I thought i should ask.

I think the answer is probably yes... or maybe. But a sterile spore syringe is well sterile. So everything in it would be dead. Aka useless.
You dont want to sterilize your spore syringe. I mean the syringe itself yes. The water aswell. But not the spores or spore solution.
Agar is what we use to weed out the contaminants. It's super easy to use. Try it out you wont regret it. Ensures what you are growing is mushrooms mycelium and not something else.
