Dude, it’s crazy. I read an article about this a while ago that explained how basically every music venue that can accommodate more than, say 1500 people (I forget the exact number) is owned by one of two or three parent companies. So if you’re in a successful band and trying to tour in America, there’s no way to play shows without paying Ticketmaster or iheartmedia. They hella collude, gouge, scalp their own tickets, etc. Basically, live music is one of the biggest monopolies in the country. It’s pretty fucked.

Yes dennings is right weve fought this for years but stupid mouth breathers either dont care or dont get it so they're just allowed by everyone to get away with it. Dont look for it to change as trump has lit annihilated the department of consumer protection and cut the balls off the FTC (huge surprise). Any way those are actually extremely cheap prices for an redic popular international act coming off a hot new album everyone is abuzz about. It would be like trying to go see rodger waters or something.

300 a ticket for Fleetwood Mac. Great seats
170 a ticket for dead & Company second level
Those Oz tickets aren’t that bad compared to US prices. But yeah tickets are expensive I can’t disagree with you on that

I heard tool sucks live anyway. Their songs could be insane jam vehicles but instead of having the balls to perform live improv like true musicians they opt instead to play cookie cutter choreographed sets. It's really frustrating to me it's so popular as a live concert that people are willing to shell out thousands for a ticket for a few hours of lazy musicianship. Let's be honest all their songs sound the exact same anyway and they really haven't grown musically at all or gone anywhere with it in thier entire career. Just goes to show I suppose. I recommend spending that same money on nice hifi equipment and listening to the albums at home. You might be disappointed live honestly.

Yeah wow. Really thought we were getting overpriced compared to the states but lots of good points. Certainly agree on musicians needing to make money now that actual physical albums are not something you can hold in your hand.
Tickets for this show are only going to be printed and mailed out. No print at home or digital tickets are being released. Good way to limit the second hand selling. It will still happen. But it's a interesting stand they are making on how they want their tickets released.
There's certainly the levels of industry promoters and venue owners and all that which need to get paid. Just seems like everyone's cut is getting bigger which means we end up paying more and more.
I guess I'm just comparing prices to the last time I seen tool. The 10000 day tour I think I paid just under $100 a ticket. And the laterulus tour would have been like $60 or $70. It was a while ago.
Tool shows are amazing though. It's more than just a few songs on a setlist. Just like their albums. You can skip to a song but when you listen from start to finish they always seem to make a complete album into a journey.

Chief. Some people write pretty good stuff and dont improv. I get liking folks who improv but come on.
