boiling jars
    #2627480 - 05/02/04 09:34 AM (19 years, 10 months ago)

i was boiling my jars last night, and i went to check on them after about 20 minutes... i guess i had my stove up a bit high and air bubbles from the water boiling was coming up into the tin foil or at least around it... do you think my jars will be ok?? havent innoculated em yet cause i dun wanna waste my spores

they dont look wet in the inside, but could this have messed with the dry verm layer?

does the substrate look wetter than when you began?
And in this case its a good thing you checked them, but in the future you shouldnt check on them, now you know the heat setting and how much water,so just set it and leave them alone till they are done.Everytime you open that lid you are releasing all the built up steam and heat and now it has to start building up all over.

Butternut squash are softer than acorn or other types of squash, which makes them easier to cut and prepare.

You probably caught it in time,if a lot of water had gotten in you would know,it would appear very "Smushy" for lack of better word.I think youll be fine.  :goodluck:

I know this is kind of a project to ask for but if anyone who has experience sporing and growing mushrooms could paraphrase and explain to me the cheapest, easiest way to grow them i woul be eternally appreciative. Shrooms shopuld be exploding in Georgia in the next week and i need to get ready to spore and grow from what i find. thank yall so much and good luck to all you hunters in the deep south(ga,sc,al) it seems like its about to get crazy.
ps. u can either post the method(s) or just send the to my email McSko112@hotmail.com

i'd recommend the invitro tek. theres alot of info on it over at mycotopia (http://www.mycotopia.net/discus/messages/5/18376.html?1039265527) go to that link. Its probably the easiest method as you really dont have to do anything except give them light which you can do with a timer. so really, you dont have to do anything. good luck.
