good ftpd for linux
    #2632382 - 05/03/04 04:48 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Heya. My fedora server comes with vsftpd, which is kinda discuntinued and doesnt support encryption. Its vague. Althuogh its configuration is neat, Im going to change to some other ftpd, due to the username/passes travelling in the net in plain text
Ive heard many recommendations for pureftpd and proftpd. Mainly, Im seeking for a ftpd that support encryption (TLS/SSL/SFTP) and there will be a few people using it.
Any info you share would be nice, have a great day!

Why don't you just install a SSH deamon and work directly via SFTP ?
The syntax is the same as with FTP. I don't know about other distros but SuSE, which is what i've been using for the last 3 years, has all this set up when you install it.
If you want a stand alone secure server try using twoftpd, oftpd or atftpd.
