Im guessing you think it that the Senate did the right thing by ending the trial early without considering additional first-hand evidence/documents?

I wouldn't say that at all. To be honest, I don't know enough about the impeachment rules and the reasoning behind it.
If Trump didn't have the large public support, the Republicans wouldn't be able to do what they're doing.

In my opinion, the rules of the Senate need to be completely re-written. Its completely flawed with this acquittal business.
In much need of a 2020 Revision.

Ahh, your only way out of that question is to play dumb, I see. SMH. Why are you even in this thread if you can't answer LC's question with intelligent reasoning?

Let me ask you, how many Democrats are calling for changing the existing Senate rules? You want me to take issue with the rules, but do you hold our leaders to that same standard?

What? Your question is not relevant. What is relevant is that the Senate voted to not hear witnesses in an impeachment trial and it's the most obvious cover-up in history. I hold all our leaders to the same standard.

Thats true. Lets face it, people can be lazy. Who wants to fight to change the political downfalls our the US Government or juet live their lives without a thought about politics.
Saw this in tye news. The White House Wikileaked 24 emails to the DOJ. Its gonna get interesting: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/justice-dept-acknowledges-24-emails-reveal-trumps-thinking-on-ukraine/2020/02/01/7deea84c-450e-11ea-b503-2b077c436617_story.html

No, the question is very important. Who is calling for a change of the existing rules?
Your issue isn't with a potential cover-up, it's with the Senate rules.
Are you contacting any of your Representatives demanding they look into those rules? Let me guess, they don't give a shit.

So then why were the annoying cunts bitching about impeachment in the first place? Anyways, he's still impeached, the system is clearly broken, and now even more people have shown where they stand on these issues. Actions have consequences and I would surmise that at some point not even Trump will be able to escape the looming retribution...

Trump is more popular after the impeachment hearings, this whole thing backfired on his political opponents.

Well there are a large number of investigations of Trump that go into full swing right now that this distraction is over, and the Republican Senate can do nothing about them. Go New York State.

LogicaL Chaos said: The surprising thing is the Senate Justice system failed today as a proper trial was not conducted.
Imagine if this was a murder case, and the jury decided to vote not to see a first-hand witness to the murder for the sole reason that they all agreed as a group that the witness was not "necessary" for the case. In this way, the jury has too much control of the trial, just like how the Republican's have too much control over the Senate, and thus acquitted the President with an incomplete, expeditated trial without reviewing all the evidence first.
even if they could prove there was a quid pro quo it's completely within the presidents executive power to withold aid pending an investigation of corruption involving a US senator .his intentions may have been only to hurt Biden's election chances but we can't prove that.. Trump literally could of said "I'm not giving you these missles intill you investigate corruption involving the Biden's and burisma" and it would be legal. Federal law states that foreign aid can only go to countries that aren't corrupt and be held intill corruption is cleared up. That being said we've definitely given plenty of aid to corrupt countries so that law obviously isn't always followed

the first hand evidence would be from the whistle blower eric carmilla and the democrats won't let him be called as a witness
