How to graft to Trichocereus 2

An old post of mine that I thought might be better off in the main forum.
Feel free to ask questions.

First off here's the materials I used:

- A scion(Lophophora) and a stock plant(Trichocereus)
- A sharp knife. I choose to use disposable boxcutter types but any thin, sharp blade will suffice.
- Alcohol to clean the blade. Make sure the alcohol has evaporated before making cuts, as alcohol is necrotic to live plant tissue. In this instance I used Methylated spirits(Ethanol), any good quality rubbing alcohol will do. If you can't source any, use a flame to sterilise the blade.
- Electrical tape and scissors. The electrical tape is quite elastic and allows for stretch which is handy for grafts. Once the scion is taped you want the tape to be firm but not over tight as to squash the plant tissue. Practice does make perfect.
- Some handy towel or other suitable material to place between the tape and your scion. This is to stop the adhesive on the tape from sticking to the scion and to also allow some padding so you don't squash the scion. It also spreads the pressure over a larger area helping the graft union.
Ok, now the boring specifics are out of the way here's an after-the-graft picture with the tape in place:

The tape was left on for 7 days and then removed. While the graft was healing it was in low light and once the tape came off was introduced back into normal conditions over the next week. It's now outside in shade for most of the day but does get afternoon sun for a few hours.
With the tape off and outside:

Money shot:

Update 30/12/11 Almost 11 months after the fact this thing hasn't budged much. It swells up when watered and one day might start to pump out the growth.

Update 15/11/12 I got sick of this thing taking up space inside so it went outside with the Trichocereus and after being grafted for 1 year and 9 months it has decided to grow. Still a few months of the growing season left to see how it develops.

Update 12/1/13 Flower forming and getting some ok growth.

Very good, helpful info!
1) What do you think about making cuts slightly convex, on both sides (with the 'tip' being vascular tissue)? Shouldn't that help a lot to prevent any air pockets or missed connection?
2) By the way I am experimenting with paraffin oil, and right now it seems perfect for any exposed part of wounds (which i guess usually doesn't apply in cases like this example but still does often enough). No drying out or scabs.. and I think it also does wonders against potential infections. Maybe it could be enhanced even more to include agents which are active against infections.
I read for other species of plants a mixture of paraffin and certain waxes or fats are used, but i just use a brush and don't apply very much so its not runny.
3) Would there be use for superglue with this size graft? I'm a bit skeptical, it seems better for micrografts.

Looks like fun. Neat yo. I want a little peyote plant. Cactus are so cute with the little flower.

Can pereskop take the pressure of electrical tape?
Would a humidity chamber be required if the scion was under 2 months old?

You could use electrical tape but you don't need to use a lot of pressure when grafting to pereskiopsis. Just needs to hold it firmly in place so the graft union can heal.
If you're grafting seedlings then some type of humidity dome or hood, made from saran wrap will be needed.
Here's a link to how I graft cactus seedlings to pereskiopsis using the Saran wrap tek>> https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19711421#19711421
