    #2627521 - 05/02/04 09:53 AM (19 years, 10 months ago)

Alright i have 3 jars that i forgot i had been dunking and now they have been in the water for about 2 1/2 days... i plan on taking them out today but was that too long of a dunk or will they still grow and be fine?

You can try,but I would think you have killed the Myceluim. If all else fails toss it in the ground outside. You never know, but 2 1/2 days is way too long.If you try it anyway,i would isolate it,it may be more prone to contams now.I wouldnt get my hopes up though.  :sorry:

Aproximately how long will a casing take to colonize to the point to where its ready to fruit. And about how long does it take to see my first pin after birthing a cake? I know numbers vary but im just wondering about.

I also wanted to add one more question. On a casing am i suppose to poke holes in the tin foil i put over the pan. Ive heard that i am suppose to but it seems like contams would be able to get in.

I wouldnt case themEven if they did survive the dunk, they are going to be very very full of water after 60 +hours,a casing is going to #1 add more moisture, and #2 trap and retain moisure,it will probably contam or rot or something along those lines pretty quickly.
