1 part brown rice flour
2 parts vermiculite ( fine grade )
1 part water( cold )
For this grow I will use these pp5 containers from the dollar store.
To prep them I will use my soldering iron to melt 5 holes, one per corner one in the center.
Now I will mix my ingredients, starting with the verm and flour then adding the water and mix everything very well.
Once mixed evenly I will load each container saving about a half inch of room at the top for the dry vermiculite layer, note I don't pack the mix in I just try get it levelish.
I now take a paper towel and clean the top half inch rim of any substrate.
After that I top the container off with dry vermiculite.
I level it out and put my lid on.
Now with normal jars I would simply cover with foil and pressure cook it but pp5 containers tend to condensate a lot so with these I always put micropore tape over the holes, with this I skip the foil all together and just pressure cook for 60 minutes.
I have fruited these in food saver bags shotgun fruiting chambers shoeboxes ECT I've even just put another container and used like mini dub tubs.

I like it. I bet you could line the bottom of a mono with those, making a pseudo bulk grow.
Have you had any issues with the MS stalling due to the size of those?

No they don't stall, they are wider then they are tall so stalling isn't an issue

When you say mini dub tub do you mean putting another container upside down on top to create a humidity dome for fruiting?
I used to do a similar thing with the tall containers, perlite and some wicks for rooting cannabis clones. 3 tubs, bottom was water with middle one having perlite and wicks down into the water And top being the humidity dome, worked wonders in my old micro grow (CFL veg, 150 hps flower, dwc).
Do you need to melt holes in the humidity dome for fresh air exchange?

hey, uh, Friend of Mush! OP mentions PC for 1 hour, and likely that is 15PSI which is basic sterilizing standard. 15PSI = 250F (121C) at sea level.

thing i need to remember is melt point of pp5 being 266F (130C), since i run @21PSI for 15PSI recipes, I think that puts temps at 260F/127C...
so not a lot of wiggle room before catastrophe hits

why does the original pf tek say that the container HAS to be one with a screw on lid, when clearly it also work with other lids ?
