Ted, check filthy's 2019 grow log. Somewhere around the second page he details his spawning process. I remember it well because i took notes and started doing it like him. Seems to save a little time.
prep five or six tubs in assembly line fashion. Iso, line up, dump coir in each, dump grain bag in each, mix level and top layer each. Bada boom bada bing.

Since then I've begun using totes to mix in and scoop each tubs substrate out using essentially a big measuring cup of a 5 Gallon bucket with a line drawn where a standard bucket tek substrate would come to. Scoop, shake level, dump in waiting liner into the tub.
Cross post.. .2 and .5 micron bags presealed side by side working great.

I haven't seen shaggy mushrooms here in the US let alone tried them. OutGrow appears to have some spores. Can you share your method for growing these? Does it follow the typical clean up on agar to spawn to substrate process?
I just inoculated rye jars with a PE syringe (SW also sells shaggy mane spores) with usual conditions and these grew out. Not my intention. I'm gonna see if I can isolate the shaggy manes if I can get to them in time (haven't got agar prepared right now).
Left 'em overnight but probably overslept and they done gone and deliquesced on me so I'll have to have matsutake's in the omelette instead.
OTOH it looks like there's more on the way so I'll have another shot at 'em:

From what I read shaggy mane fruits in cold conditions. Were your conditions cold as well or was it just room temp?
I'm not really sure what those fruits are other than some sort of weed. The jars sat in full colonization for 5 months and turned into an experiment to see what affect that had on fruiting. I cased them out and then it took more weeks before they were "ready" to fruit, and that was at a little above room temp. First I got some small apparently PE pins, and that stalled. Another week or so these appeared. They may have been in the original syringe or they may have wafted in on the wind and colonized the stalled mycelium. I'm waiting on the next flush to get a better look at them, but they're obviously some sort of coprinoid, just what exactly?

I'm a tad confused by this. Do you mean that now you are putting a bunch of bags into the tote full of coir, mixing that all up and then dumping the appropriate amount of premixed sub into the receiving tubs?

I was gonna say I remember the grow log saying that he mixed the spawn in each tub separate. thats what I was wondering is how you like this method over the other

Nope. I said using a bucket to transfer substrate from a tote with multiple buckets teks combined (9).
Substrate = substrate; substrate =/= substrate and spawn mixed.
If you want to try that let me know how it goes for you.

I'd be interested to try but I'm running to many different genetics this round. I might try it next time i have a bunch of bags of the same genetics though. I certainly wouldn't put any bags in it if they looked at all off. I don't mind making up a tub with slightly questionable spawn but I'd never put ten gallons of spawn in danger.

Ok so I'm new back in the cult scene, and I really didn't want to post an impatient "how's my tray look?" post, especially since I have a really hard time following teks since pftek in the 90's (pre dunk and roll and all that fancy stuff). For anyone with the patience and kindness for a noob-who-knows-better attitude returnee, I ask if this how this tray of WBS spawned to coir (Hauatla strain) looks like it's on its way to pinning or too dry. (Tray cover off for pic)

Thanks folks

That happened with a lot of my APE, they keep growing for a while even though the veil looks like it's opening up early. Wait until they're kinda like curling upwards. Stareatclouds signature picture is a good example of it. But yeah, it's normal

Old grow (psilocybe allenii) but I wanted to share it again because they are so purdy....

That and I have a container of them again and I'm waiting and waiting and waiting and WAITING... and I'm starting to think they just are not going to fruit.
