Feature Request: a DIY Self Ban button. 4

We're a forum that has a number of people with substance abuse issues, as well as other addictive issues.
One of the issues faced by some is curbing their Shroomery time.
People who see no other way ask a staffer for a voluntary ban for a duration that gives them a shot at getting things done in the real mworld.
A Shroomery addiction.
Generally, as a rule, we don't supply these, except in exceptional circumstances.
I want to propose the feature where people have a DIY self ban functionality, where they can enter the number of days, maybe even hours, for teh lulz, that they want to be banned for. The moment ther press the button that makes it so, they get redirected to a splash screen with a countdown to ban expiration, with the message that the admins do not have the feature to overturn this ban and will not do so under any circumstances. It might even blacklist them from supporter tickets.
In other words, taking responsibility over your life, YES, but WITH the feature to put the Shroomery on hold.
Giving people the freedom, but also the responsibility that comes with them.
Some people have compulsion/abuse issues, this would help them, without burdening the staff with request or kamikaze trolling to get a ban.
Ythan you're making long hours lately for the good of this community if it appeals to you, maybe squeeze this one in at some convenient point?

I think its a great idea!
But it should be kinda hidden and have some kind of confirmation prompt so accidental bans don't happen.

I used to use insta-ban for when I needed a forced break.
I would suggest setting a thirty day max so people don't end up regretting it and begging to be let back.
I don't think it should be hidden at all, I think it should be somewhere prominent so people are familiar with it.
I personally like the idea. In a perfect world users wouldn't need to ban themselves, but we don't live in a perfect world. This would have especially came in handy for me back when I used to do stims. I would go into it knowing I should just stay away from the shroomery and the internet in general, next thing I know it's three sleepless days later and I'm on here writing novels going crazy lol.

I've only been on here a year and it looks like I've given myself a 3 month, a 1 month and a 2 month break. If I weren't able to do that on my own I would love the option to lock myself out. I think this is a good idea.

I'd limit it to 30 days. People can't be trusted with the responsibility of 31 days.

Thank you very much for the feature, this will help some people get a better grip and thus makes a better shroomery.

Well, there are people who ask for short duration bans as a harm reduction measure.
If your addiction is Shroomery, portion control is harm reduction.
Imagine you had a drug you were addicted to but wanted to go on with. Imagine you could restirict your access to it to once or twice a month. That would help you a great deal.
