Who has a shredder / chipper for things like wood shavings to make them finer and less voluminous (or straw bales i guess)? I'd like to see what kind of size would be nice to look out for.
My wood shavings are incredibly voluminous, i can't fill bags with this close to efficiently.

Had to jump on the band wagon. I got the 1000ml first but the 500's fit in my microwave.

Was some idea I saw on YouTube for a no-tilt lc jar. When you connect a syringe it sucks lc off the bottom like a soda straw. It's a syringe needle cap with the needle still in it and the little cap at the base of the needle still in place. I cut the end of the main cap so lc can be sucked up through the needle. There is a vent hole with mp tape over it. I wrap the top with sticky cling wrap to maintain the sterility of the seal around the lid and jar.

Don't know if it's worth it but thought I'd find out. I use a step up drill bit, looks like a cone or pyramid but it's for opening up a hole in increments. I have the cling wrap preventing anything from falling onto the micropore tape but still allowing it to breathe. Might buy some filter discs and try them next. Never used em don't know how much difference it will make.

I owe lotkid a big thank you for recommending this. Difference is night and day from my
old sealer.

The 5mm seal is beautiful. It makes the same quality seal that's on the bottom of the bag.

It's rock solid and that seal doesn't budge at all.

My old sealer would either burn right through the bag or make an improper seal. The sweet spot on it
was about a hair wide.

The piece of shit blue looking one that you see when you start
looking for impulse sealers. I think they are made by one company
and resold by a bunch of different people.

Ive been considering getting the vertical auto one with a foot pedel.

The only issue i was having is how mounting would go.

I bought got this sealer:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTCSMCP/ref=emc_b_5_t

Its been working great.  A good option for people searching for a value.  Ive done about 40 bags.  Presealing in PC and then resealing after inoculation.  Nothing but great seals once you get the heat setting right.

do you need to press the arm multiple times to seal?  its the magnet and timer that makes the other one so great

No, I just press down.  It has a light to tell you when the heating element is on which is usually 2-3 seconds.  Then I leave it pressed down for maybe another 5 seconds while it cools and release.  The seal comes out great as long as the bags are reasonable flat at the seal and the heat is set at the right number.  Even when the bags are messed up at the top with creases and crimps, it seals well.  I think the only time it has messed up a bag is when the weight of the bag is pulling on the seal while it is hot.  Then it tears below or above.  Pretty sure that is normal for any sealer.

I used zip ties before.  Never going back.

AIE is the brand.  http://aieco.com/enet/index.asp

my old sealer didnt have a timed light.  the element came on when the lever was depressed and stayed on until you let got. so, it was really easy to melt the bag unless I did several quick depressions in a row.  it sucked

get the 8mil not the 6.  you can always turn it down.  the 305-HIM is the one that was recommended to me and that I bought and love!
