Mycellium in oat jars is clumpy

So I inoculated my oat jars almost two weeks ago and they're mostly about 50% there although a couple are more like 60%. I just shook them and they were all kind of clumpy... does this mean it's contaminated? I don't know if I didn't shake them enough when I initially put the agar in, could that by why?
There's no off colors but I've read some contam can look like mycellium. Any help is appreciated

How hard ya shake? They look ice cream thick which is bad I'm pretty sure. Wait for some one with more experience to tell ya. Mush luck

yeah I didn't want to risk breaking it up too much so I didn't shake it super hard. I also didn't shake them super duper hard when I first put the agar in

You want to break them up as much as possible its kind of the whole point. If they are hard to break up u either have a starchy grain issue or bacteria

Your grains were too wet it looks like. That favours bacteria if there were any in there I guess, but it looks hopeful to me. If you can get it to colonize, it will work.
You probably followed a tek to do your grains right? Boil for 30 minutes or something.
These oats can vary widely in the amount of prep they require. I just got myself a bag of oats that is overdone after 5 minutes in hot water. I can still hardly believe it.
This 5 minute bag is ridiculous, 1 of a kind so far, but the principle is consistent.
As quirkmeister92 said..."When cooking grain you need to stir and monitor the cooking process whether it be for you or the mush to eat. There is no perfect time, there are too many variables."

Yeah I followed bod's oat tek. They didn't seem too wet after I was done boiling them, but I may have misjudged.
I suppose I'll keep on truckin! I'd be pretty happy if they ended up colonizing and I got some fruit.... considering it's my first attempt... we shall see

Well if you didn't shake that hard that could be why. I smack the fuck out of them. Slam them repeatedly into my hand. Hurts a lil but works.

I mean should I shake the fuck out of them at this point? I've just read about the myc growth stalling after doing it too hard/much and I don't want that to happen. I shook all of them last night but I wasn't too crazy about it. Will the growth be stunted if the oats are too clumpy?
