The only thing I see that actually unites all Americans is the Olympics. Silly but true. Everybody becomes a flag waver.
Can't really say what should unite all Americans but confident it hasn't been mentioned ITT.

I think we tend to overestimate and romanticize how united we think we used to be. Protestants and Catholics had more hostility toward each other in the past than now. White people are more united now than when Irish, Italians, and Eastern Europeans were considered inferior. There was more political and racial hostility in the 60's than now. There is more patriotism post 9-11 than from Viet Nam till then.

Although there is no scientific basis to believe they exist (or exist around here), I have always thought at alien attack would quickly unite the races in America. The fact that it's a bullshit premise says a lot about how bad the current situation is.

Heritage is not enough to unite the different generations. Most people today couldn't care less about heritage.

By true American I mean the inheritors of founding stock of the U.S.A. to whom the nation actually belongs to. Not the invaders or usurpers. Also generation make no difference I’m a millennial and I have a traditional view of what a nation is. Fact of the matter is only those of European stock (left and right) have an authentic concern for this nation, everyone else is just looting it. The reason is they have no connection to an American identity (except for the fabricated Hollywood version of American identity)
