Lynnch said: Eh. I'm 50/50. Biden is.. old. But I dunno that any Biden voters are looking back and thinking they made a mistake voting against Trump. There's a lot of noise about Israel/Palestine on the left right now.. but I dunno that most folks will remember that in 10 months.. Trump has a vocal base.. But I don't think his public perception has gotten better over time.
Domestically, I don't think Biden has made any big splashy moves that makes folks feel like their lives have gotten better.
I dunno. I think the Israel/Palestine thing has made a lot of lefties absolutely fucking hate Biden. He's running around talking about how he's a zionist, and going around congress to supply them weapons... All while Israel is committing a genocide. I don't think any real lefty can look past that. It's pretty fucking horrible.
Now... The fact of the matter is, on the issue of Israel, I don't think there is a single politician in Washington that would be any better. It is quite shocking, the stranglehold that Israel has on our government. I don't imagine Trump would be any better, by any means.
Democrats should have had a primary. I really do think they are seriously considering swapping Biden out for someone else at the convention. We'll see.

But things definitely feel more stable than our last memories of Trump in 2020.. and a big majority of folks look at the republicans and think "these dickheads took my right to an abortion away"
You think things feel more stable? I think, all media bullshit aside, the Trump years were quite good years for me. Inflation hadn't gone out of control yet... Covid hadn't destroyed small businesses all over America, yet. People weren't worried about world war III, at least not by my recollection.
I think the people who were most unsettled by the Trump years, were the people tuning in to CNN and MSNBC every day.

I find this line of thought to be exceptionally lazy and rooted in antisemitic tropes. Everywhere else, its "US hegemony" this or that. As soon as Israel is mentioned (the Jews), its "Israel control of US" i.e. the tired old Jewish Cabal type tropes, particularly the "World Domination" trope or the "Control of World Financials" trope.

Wooow... smh
There's nothing "Antisemitic" about criticizing the Israeli government, or the relationship that our government has with Israel. In fact, plenty of Jews do it every single day. Israel is the only foreign country, whose lobbyists in Washington don't have to register as foreign agents. They spend very large sums of money to influence our politics. Biden is the number one person receiving that money.
The relationship that the US has with Israel is part of US hegemony. Biden has even said that if there wasn't an Israel, the United States "would have to create an Israel", to further our interests in the Middle East.
Honestly, your shitty little attempt at attacking me, instead of what I've actually said, is what's really fucking lazy.

Where did I attack you? Where did I say it's antisemitic to criticize the Israeli government.
You need to reread what I wrote and your post I responded to. You wrote that Israel "has a stranglehold" on the US government, which as a statement is so fucking dumb it's laughable, and is rooted in Jewish global control tropes.

How is it dumb? AIPAC is a very powerful lobby in Washington. It's fucking dumb to say otherwise. Even the most anti-war politicians are lining up to support a genocide that is being committed by the Israeli people. I've actually supported my claim... while you, lazily, just called it "dumb".
If a politician takes a stand against Israel, AIPAC very seriously threatens their re-election. There is plenty of evidence of this.
Quote:
Tim Peterson, a bald and burly Air Force veteran running for Congress in Minnesota’s Fifth District, wants to discuss the “existential” problem that Minneapolis faces with mass retirements of police officers looming on the horizon. But he has to state something else first: Hamas is fascist.
You see, Tim Peterson is worried about an existential problem in Minneapolis.. but more importantly he wants to make it known that Hamas is Fascist.
Quote:
Sarah Gad, a youthful criminal defense lawyer running for the same seat, is passionate about criminal justice reform, but, she acknowledged, everyone wants to know her feelings about the conflict in Gaza.
Don Samuels, another candidate, has a lifetime of public service to promote as a retired city councilman from North Minneapolis. But, he noted, “there is, of course, the international issue” hanging over the race: Israel and Palestine.
All three are challenging Representative Ilhan Omar, one of Israel’s fiercest critics in Congress, in next August’s Democratic primary. But only one of them is likely to be the beneficiary of a tidal wave of campaign cash from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, its super PAC and other pro-Israel allies incensed by the Democratic left’s criticism of the Jewish state after Hamas’s attacks on Oct. 7 and the ensuing war in Gaza.
AIPAC is going to flood the primary with a "tidal wave" of cash..
Quote:
Eight months before Democratic voters decide, a pre-primary primary has begun. Call it the AIPAC primary, with each of Ms. Omar’s opponents making a case for why they deserve a boost.
The New York Times says "Call it the AIPAC Primary". AIPAC spends twice as much on American elections as the NRA, and about a 3rd as much as Alphabet. That is a very powerful force in American politics.

This upcoming election scares me, frankly.
Again from Lucretius
Quote:
Titus Lucretius Carus, “De rerum Natura”
Because, like children tremble and fear everything in the blind darkness, so we sometimes, in the light, fear what is no more to be feared than what children dread in the obscurity imagining will come true. Thus this terror and dimness of mind must be dispelled not by the rays of the sun or the bright spears of day, but by the laws and model of nature.
Thanks, Lucretius, for soothing my thoughts once again with these words of Wisdom.

I suppose there might be a group of lefties that refuse to vote for Biden because of it, but it's not really a coherent group with political power at the moment. It's the same group that refused to vote for Biden because of Bernie.. and they didn't make a difference the last time. Basically they never vote, so they don't matter.
I don't think it really matters if it's Biden or not. The message will be the same: Keep Trump out of power. That's compelling enough for a lot of people. Is that enough people to win? or are more people sick of it and checked out? I dunno.

It's kind of funny how many people have amnesia about Trump and 2020. All of that shit you listed? Happened during Trump's presidency. Biden inherited that mess. People were absolutely worried about WW3 when Trump was threatening China, and when he blew up a random Iranian in Iraq.
Did you not pay attention at all? From day one Trump's administration was a chaotic mess- hiring, firing, backstabbing, trying to pull unconstitutional shit and going to court. Did you forget about the nazis marching in the streets?
Nobody here watches CNN, I don't know why you think you're making a point by mentioning it.
Compared to how the country was when Biden started his term, yes, things feel more stable.

The effects have been felt through the Biden years. It didn't happen in 2017. The crazy inflation that we've been experiencing started at the end of Trump's presidency, and has been affecting America for the entirety of Biden's presidency.
I'm not saying Biden is responsible for any of these things, by the way. I'm saying that things feel far more unstable. I don't think most people really give a shit about the political scandals that happened in Washington during Trump's presidency. They care about the effect it had on them personally.
When Trump was president, during covid, millions of Americans also got ridiculous unemployment payments, and PPP loans... My ma got $40,000 in PPP money just dropped into her lap. For gig workers, the economy was fucking amazing too. I know people who did delivery jobs making $75+/hour easily in 2020.
I guess it was a mixed bag, but obviously the negative effects of covid have been felt more through the Biden years, than the one year, while Trump was still president.

My ma had it dropped in her lap.
You provide zero context.
Why be so purposely vague?
Did she fill it out on the way to the crimea?

Well, if you want more details, I suppose I can elaborate. My ma used to drive for Uber, Lyft, Amazon Flex, food delivery apps.. Whatever paid best at the time. She's been doing it for years. When they were giving out PPP money, she was able to file as a private contractor. She got two PPP loans, I believe... totaling $40,000.

Bro! Come on man!
Read my post! I wasn't complaining about her getting PPP loan money, I said that for all of the people (Meaning gig workers mostly) who received big fat sums of cash from PPP loans out of the blue, it made their lives more stable during covid.
I'm really happy that my ma got that money, however, at the same time I really hate that a lot of business owners basically raided the coffers and robbed America blind. The CARES act was one of the largest upward transfers of wealth in American history.
Some senators got well over a million fucking dollars in PPP money.
