Working my Shrooms

Hey guys,
I'm not sure if this post really belongs here, but i couldn't think of any of the other forums it should go in either... If i want to powder my dried shrooms to put in gelcaps, can i just use a pestle and mortar, stick em all in, and grind away? Or will this mash them up too much? I don't have a coffee grinder, and i really don't want to spend money on buying one just for this... But i would much rather have caps than eat these shrivelled beauties
Many thanks

Should be fine, as long as you don't grind so much that the shroom grounds get really hot.

Nope, it doesn't.
Where I live (Sunshine Coast, BC) we've got a great lil' product known as scooby snacks.
6 per pack... they contain Guarana, Fo Ti Tieng, Spirulina, Schisandra, Ginseng, Bee Pollen, and 1.3g of Stropharia Cubensis.
I can assure you it works quite well.

So you reckon it'll be cool?
Has anyone else actually ever ground their shrooms up with a pestle and mortar? Just wanted to know if there's any problems i should look out for, like not being able to get the powder out when you've been grinding it or something...? And also, if there's any particular differences i should expect with taking powder over fresh...
Again, many thanks guys.

Yes my freind places them in a blender makes a fine silk powder out the the packs them tight in 00 gel caps. Only thing is dont take a full does all at once it hits you so hard like this. So takr half dose then little later take other to ease the up coming

Sounds like it'd be pretty hard to scrape all the precious powder out of the blender though? I mean, it'd be all over the inside, and you would lose a lot. Another thought: is dosing different with gel caps? Is X grams of whole dry mushrooms exactly equivalent to X grams of powdered dry mushrooms, or do you have to compensate for increased/decreased concentration of psilocybin? I'd guess there wouldn't be much (if any) difference, but it pays to ask. EDIT: Obviously I realise that the gel caps will have a weight and I take that into account too.

the gelcaps weigh next to nothing.a "00" capsule holds 1/2 gram of mush powder.. there is no differance in potency/dosage,its the same thing just ground up.They do hit you faster though but thats just because they are already broken down and are obsorbed by your body faster. When I do this I start with 3 gels(1 1/2 grams) and then take 1 more capsule(1/2G) every 30 minutes. But thats just me.

your wrong its like pouring flour out the blender barely any loss at all and yes common sense you would deduct the pill weight

Sounds cool... I don't know what size the caps i've got are- there was no choice. But i've weighed them, and one empty cap is about 0.13 grams, so i'll fill one up, deduct the weight, and then I'll know just how much magic powder one holds. I just keep packing it in the cap till i can't get anymore in there right? I'm guessing that people don't have too much trouble brushing their powder out or whatever once they've ground it up...?
Cheers, Peace.

Always loved butternut pumkins (sorry FarmerTed... you're a pumkin, not a squash At least you are in Australia anyway...)

Thanks for the link Sakura, made me feel a lot more confident about using a pestle and mortar for this job.
Cheers everyone, I'll try and post how it goes, maybe we could get a definite list of how much a cap weighs, and how much one holds.
Thanks.
