For those that like to do research instead of being led around by the nose by sensationalist news.
You should know anyone can file a bill in Mass. This anti bitch bill was just that, a bill filled by a Mass citizen. The bill will go through normal procedure and just like many other citizen bills that don’t meet legal muster will die at public hearing. Wow, democracy in action, so scary, much PC censorship! https://www.wbur.org/news/2019/10/24/bitch-bill-massachusetts-legislature
Don’t let that stop the panty bunching freakout! Afterall conservatives need to feel persecuted, so they won’t let facts get in the way of self flagration. (God damn it must be exhausting inventing shit to panic about).

As I said, the need to be persecuted is stronger than anything else.
Someone who wasn’t excited about being persecuted might think, “oh golly I sure am glad they aren’t really banning Bitch, I should look into local procedure more before assuming things...”
Nope, instead just immediately onto the next bit of persecution, not even an acknowledgment of the media fabricating a story, because it’s not important whether it’s true, it’s only important if it gives that feeling of being attacked as if in a battle.
So anyway, no one is banning Bitch in mass.

Nope. Bills need to be actively pursued, the next step involves a public hearing. If that public hearing goes well, then maybe you could say it’s yet undetermined, but until then, this is just something scheduled in a public hearing, not a bill that is to voted into law.
As the article I posted mentioned, everyone has a right to a public hearing. Failure to attend the hearing or to convince others the bill is worth moving forward on, causes the bill to die.
If someone wanted to be disingenuous they could however easily say that only one step behind this bill is Mass declaring the world flat! Since the only difference between that and this is the single mass resident needed to file a proposed bill to declare the earth flat.

This is very similar to when Rush Limbaugh was nominated for a Nobel Prize.

Potentially double posting as this is now about the Connecticut case.
Finding a Reason article from last year that appears to delve further into this statute, the main reason it appears to still exist is because no one has challenged it. https://reason.com/2018/08/06/racial-ridicule-is-a-crime-in-connecticu/?amp
A quick overview of the reason article. This law appears to be from 1917 and may have originally meant advertisement as in literal business advertisements and not personal speech. Since around 2000 about one person a year is accused of this offense and almost always in the context of ‘fighting words.’ Given they are already up on other charges, it’s likely they are just pleading to this instead of going through the court battle. This would almost certainly not stand up in court, but someone is going to need to actively fight it before it gets removed.

If you did your research, you would have stated the bill was sponsored by Democratic Rep. Daniel Hunt. He claims he accidentally filed the bill under his name. So the original story is not incorrect, is it?

The article I posted said that yes this was a citizen request but that Hunt accidentally failed to check the box that said it was. It even quotes Hunt as saying it’s a citizen’s request.
So if the original story said, “citizen requests bill, minor clerical error makes it incorrectly appear to be personally sponsored by a democrat.” Then yes it was correct.

Yet, you never mentioned the bill was sponsored by an elected State Representative, which is the only reason why this story make national headline news in the first place.

Freedom of speech and the 2nd amendment have to be protected at all costs. The far left desperately want to take those freedoms. The left don't actually want a free society anymore. they just want to tell other people what to do. It's fucked up..

Freedom of speech is not, and shouldn't be protected at all costs. The Supreme Court is regularly interpreting the limitations of free speech.

It’s obvious our constitution only applies to certain individuals and that our current regime is trying to tighten those constraints until we are back at White Male Landowner as being the only protected group. That we consider corporations people is evidence enough somethings broken.
Just ask anyone why 2nd amendment defenders didn’t have a shit fit over the government murdering a citizen who was exercising his second amendment rights, and see what happens. Obviously for certain ‘reasons’ the constitution didn’t apply to him.

No, you were attempting to portray a false narrative that an elected State Representative had nothing to do with this bill, that wasn't the case whether it was a mistake or not.

Can you provide some examples on those "regularly interrupting the limitations of free speech"?
