Chlorophyllum, Coprinus, Coprinopsis....Lepiota...?
    #26264161 - 10/19/19 08:36 PM (4 years, 3 months ago)

All were found in the same general area. Photo 1 I thought resembled chlorophyllum at first but now I think they are lepiota subincarnata. Found near the road, underneath and heavily shaded by cedar I think but again Im not good at tree ID... working on that. Gills are white and closely spaced. Stipe was white, long and narrow with a bulbous volva and skirt. Bruised brown and where cut, orange. The cap of the biggest one I found in photo 4 is 18cm with brown scales. The younger ones scales were reddish which is what leads me to L. Subincarnata. Working on spore print.

Photo 2 I believe is coprinus comatus. Found in mossy grass very near photo 1. Because of the bullet shape and scale color Im confident its shaggy mane but where I get confused is the size of the one in photo 4 which was found just across the street. Photo 2 is 3cm wide and 12cm tall while photo 4 is 8cm wide and 15cm tall. Still a shaggy mane?

And photo 3 just for fun. Coprinopsis atramentaria found in a grassy area somewhat near the others. Had the same bullet shape of the C. comatus but smooth cap and in large clusters. The mature ones surrounding were inky.

Tell me your thoughts

1. Lepiota sp. (Possibly poisonous)
2. Coprinus comatus.
3. Coprinopsis atramentaria.
4. From left to right - Coprinus comatus, Lepiota sp., Chlorophyllum sp. If you intend eating the Chlorophyllum, make sure the spore print isn't green to rule out Chlorophyllum molybdites.

Spore print for the big one on the right in photo 4 was white. Are you saying its a parasol?
