some sort of panelaeous.
    #2625753 - 05/01/04 01:45 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I found some sort of pan that was growing off a neighbors well manicured lawn. I dont think its a sub but i dont think its a pan foe either.

It had a white stem, black spore print. brown gills. 3 cm brown cap with a yellowish band on the top. The Stem bruises a brownish yellow color.

I have no clue what it could be, all i know is its some kind of pan.

Hey, you said,
Quote:

Panaeolus foenisecii does not have a white stem (it has a reddish-brown stem) It also does not have a black spore print (it has a chocolate brown to dark brown spore print), and the Panaeolina foenisecii does not have yellow bands on the caps.

and agian we do not know what you have. But from your description it is not Panaeolina foenisecii.

Your mushroom is Panaeolus acuminatus.

Not psychoactive.

How can you be certain that that mushroom is acuminatus?

If you find any more, please dry one or two specimens carefully and give me a PM. I would really like to take a look at those under a scope.

I just found some that look exactly like that and i couldn't figure out what they are, i took spore prints of a few and the prints were black with purple in them. That's the first pic i've seen of some that look just like the ones i found, and i found them in a well manacured yard also. peace....

I also agree, that's a mystery Panaeolus.

You know, the Lizard King claims to have found a couple of the same mystery Pan's we have found in florida (he's up in Georgia); he said they were found in a lawn and he might have also mentioned he saw some bluing at the base of one of the stems. (?)

Anyways, try to post more pictures of them or try to find more.

If anyone finds any Paneolus mushrooms growing in LAWNS, that resemble foes, casters, acuminatus please dry a few specimens carefully, and give me a PM.

Me and my friend went hunting the other day where our weilli patch is and we found some sort of panelaeous also. My friend said it was a pan foe, but we didn't take any with us. Some of them had white stems, but some of them had darker stems. If i go back i'll get the spore print.
