What if there is no Karma?

I mean look at the animal world. Some cruel shite happens to them, I mean some raunchy nasty stuff happens, and I dont see the animals getting punished. Why should they be?
Its not even that what goes around comes around because thats not always true. In a certian aspect, if I start stealing things from everyone, chances are Im going to start hanging out with thieves. And then I have a risk of getting MY stuff stolen by them, but outside that I dont believe in 'what goes around comes around.'
How can we grow if nothing bad happens. How bout this. Your born and nothing bad ever happens to you, you would be the most uninteresting and unmotivated person you could ever meet. In fact when someone does somthing 'bad' to us, they are in fact helping us.
I just think it makes us humans feel better to think that one day the person who wronged you will 'get it' too, but I just dont think thats the way it works.

of course there is karma, karma can be as simple as this, if you use your time to do positive things other positive things will happen to you, and if you want to be an asshole people will be an asshole back to you. whats goes around comes around.

I consider it more like the concept of "luck" Luck isn't some force, it's just what happens. Bad shit happens to you, it's "bad luck" Good shit is "good luck". Karma is much the same -- it's not that a big elf is taking logs of what you do, it's that bad shit you do often has a domino effect of bad shit being dumped back on you.

Even if Karma isnt real, what goes around still comes around. If you spend your time helping people out when they need it, they are going to be much more likely to be appreciative and help you out when your in need. If you spend all your time screwing people over, then people will be waiting for the chance to burn you even worse than you did to them. Yea, if one person does something bad to you, you can?t count on the universe getting them back on your behalf for that one deed. But if they are doing bad things to you, they probably will do bad things to other people too, and are just planting lots of seeds of negative energy. Eventually it?s going to come back to them. So even if the universe isn?t making sure good things happen to good people, and punishing other people for doing something bad to you... if you are in a tough spot and have spent your time helping people chances are a lot higher that they will be there to help you out and try to make it somewhat better. Like the Beatles said, ?Love is all you need? I don?t know if that made sense, but that?s my theory. It?s still Karma in my mind. EDIT: Sorry Shriek didnt realize you said the exact same thing

there is no karma
when someone does something good or bad and it "comes around", then it is attributed to karma. When someone does something nice/mean and it does not come around, nobody mentions anything about karma. It's only there when it's convienient.

Well, if you're defining karma as some system of retribution where somehow all of your deeds are being recorded and some mediator is making sure you get your due punishment then, no I don't believe 'karma' exists.
But this is a dogmatic definition of karma. Karma is simply causality. Actions have consequences wether they are beneficial, hurtful or completely benign.
The motion of the heavenly bodies sets all sorts of karma in motion.

Fuck all that Budhist shit, if you want to do something good for the sake of it, then fine, but don't expect any good karma. If you get raped up the ass, don't think that the guy who did it is not going to have fun the rest of his life, because karma dealt with him.
Also, I suppose every topic of this discussion has been exhausted long ago, but how would anyone ever know when you are getting bad karma( you deserve it), or you are unjustly being fucked with?
Is karma delt with on each incident, or if you do lots of little bad things, could you get one big punishment?
Yeah, I agree with Scolecite, animals are fucking ruthless, and they don't get punished(that I know of). Humans are just evolved animals.
I say all religion is bullshit, I could make up any fantasy and call it a religion, it would be just as valid.

Thanks, you contributed so much. You're not agreeing with Scolecite - he put up an interesting point. You're just a moron.
People understand little about karma.

Exactly thats is why I wish they would shut the fuck up about it.
Most retarded thing ever.. someone bumps there knee or head or whatever and some jack ass says "nice karma". I'm going tye the next guys ears in knots who I hear say something about my fucking karma. I can hardly stand listening to people discuss anything about religion/spirit/ or anything else on that subject. Worst topic ever right next to politics.

Which isn't to say there's anything wrong with spirituality (etc), of course - just that there is not a shortage of dimwits. Ah well. How about "Instant Karma!" It's like ramen, but you add water and you bump your knee or some shit.
