Posted this in the pub, but I got banned, so I'll put it here.
I have been wondering how to make rustic looking professional fences.
I finally figured out how to do it.
I fell a tree, cut it to length, and then split the length in half with wedges. After that a take a bowl adze and start digging where I want the mortise (hole in the fence post) to be. I then do the other side and finally I take my chainsaw and push it through. Alternatively, one could finish going through with a hand auger a couple times, but that is definitely more work.
This was my first one.
I am moving to a ranch in Maine and so I will be doing tons of these. I would like to close in my entire property with these.
Also, if you can make em look pretty, people make loads of cash from these.

Been using a chisel to shape up the mortise in the vertical half pole.
The tenons are easy. I take them from the woods 76 inches long by hand saw. I use a bearded hatchet or normal axe to shape up the tips.

Looks good. A buddy of mine did this awhile back, he used a soft wood and it rotted pretty quickly. I have been thinking about doing something similar in cedar.

Nice work. I just take 8'ish saplings and plane (draw shave) squareish, then chisel (I do this while the wood still has a bit of moisture in it). Super quick and super easy. Nothing like finishing a M&T fence. Yessir.
