Went back to the spot where I found gymnopilus luteofolius recently to pick some pins id left.
I found these guys growing nearby, and tho I suspect they’re also lutefolius I noticed that the stems are much thinner and longer than the ones I found growing in wood chips. They were also growing close enough together to bleed spores all over each other (notice the different stem color on the bottom row).
 (mixed in with the ones i picked from woodchips, i believe the woodchips ones are the second, third, fourth, and fifth mushies counting from the top left)
Could they be a different kind of gym, or could the difference be due to the different places they grew? They have the same spore color, and more green spots on the cap then the other ones I picked off the ground. Location is Washington.

Uzi, I've found Gyms at 3 dif locations in New York in the past 2 months. It's not late yet.
