ID Request - WA
    #26238421 - 10/08/19 05:21 PM (4 years, 5 months ago)

Both found in Seattle while unsuccessfully searching for cyans. Lemme know what ya think!

Species 1

Habitat: found growing in wood chips.

Gills: yellowish/brown when young, turning into a deep orange with maturity.

Stem: dense with streaks of red and yellow

Cap: slightly textured, similar mix of red and yellow.

Bruising: seems to be black.

General location: WA

Species 2

Habitat: found in the same type of wood chips.

Gills: white, turning blackish with maturity.

Stem: comprised of gills (not sure what the correct lingo is, would they be called a type of chanterelle based on this?)

Cap: light tan turning black with age.

Bruising: darker shade of brown.

General location: WA

Psilocybe sp.

You'll get a better answer from someone else.

sp. means species - it’s generally used when someone’s confident about he genus, but doesn’t know or at least isn’t confident about the exact species.

--------------------
Disclaimer - I'm just a hobbyist and cannot absolutely guarantee any ID offered. I'm most familiar with the species found in the Pacific Northwest - those found in other parts of the world may vary considerably, so always do your own research to find out what grows in your area and what lookalikes you need to be aware of. Understand that many mushroom species cannot be 100% reliably identified by photographs alone, even by an expert, so it may not be possible to go beyond suggesting a probable genus.
