Two of my cakes have started to shrink a little and the whiteness has turned kinda orangy. They are still in the jars, and the smell normal, but is this orange stuff contamination? Also, it's not like mold growing on the cake, the cake itself has changed colors. Please respond asap.

Without a pic it's hard to tell. For how long is the cake colonizing inside the jar ? If it's taking too long, then the substrate might be drying or the mycelium could be aging. Of course there's also the possibility of contamination ....
