Hello everyone! I'm new to this branch of science and I'm very eager to learn all I can about my fungal friends.
My friend sent me some pictures of some mushrooms he found and asked me to help him identify them. His description was:
-Long & thin stalk. Maybe 1/4th of a inch in diameter
-The spores are black
-The gills are brownish
-The caps range from 1 inch to 1.5 inches in diameter
-They were found in Texas near the gulf
-They were growing in cow manure
-They are growing in humid climate in the fall
-They've developed an brilliant bluish texture to them
Any help with the identification would be greatly appreciate.
Additionally, my friend was curious how to collect the spores that had fallen onto the caps below them. Oh and if anyone could convey information as to how long spores are good for, and the best way to store them, that would be great.
