OK, well it is my first time growing so I'm looking for any help. Just want opinions on whether or not I should dunk my cakes after birthing for 24 hours in the water/h202 solution before putting them in the terrarium. Or if it is not really that nessessary for the first time. Thanks, peace one love.

I searched and read up on the dunking so I know how to do it. I am going to dump the dry vermaculite and fill with the water/h202 solution. But I have one more question, why do I roll the cakes in dry vermacultie afterwards? Thanks, peace one love.

It helps retain moisture.Cold shocking isnt needed for most cubes, the reson people place them in the fridge is because contams are less likely to grow in the cold.A drop in tempature of 10 degrees or so down to 75 or 76F along with exposure to light is enough for most strains of cubes to innitiate pinning. Good Luck

also the dunking and rolling i find it helps the cake to pin all over. if you've noticed the pins usually come from where the vermiculite is for some reason, so this helps create that all over. (thanks magash!)

what about using the vermiculite that was in the jars too begin with? I don't have any more verm, only what will be coming out of the jar... what if, during dunk mode, I let the old verm dry out, only to use it when dunk mode is done?
