My new shelving and question about agar plates in open

I just purchased these shelfs im pretty happy with them my only worry is the second self from the bottle is where im gonna keep my spawn and colonizing petri dishes is this okay or should i keep the petris in a separate container im not sure how good of a job parafilm will do in keeping contams from dishes ? also the middle shelf right above my spawn shelf is gonna have a 3ft fluorescent 6500k grow light will this be too much for the jars i know ambient light is good for colonizing jars but what about direct light. I feel like now all i need is my flow hood which should be on its way :grin:

Well just to play it safe i put my one petri dish i got going right now in a clean shoebox to help keep it contam free

a shoe box will help but not keep it totally clean. Para film, if wrapped properly, will do the job. But it does have to retain it's moisture content to avoid cracking. It depends how old it is and how it's been kept but putting the dishes into ziplock bags can help retain the moisture.

The light won't harm anything.

thanks for the reply and as far as how old the petri dish is its not very old its colonizing and isnt even half colonized atm

sweet. I was a bit unclear. I meant how old the parafilm is. If a roll has been around for a while and not kept in a nice ziplock bag, the film will dry out on the roll. Then it'll rip and tear like a somagun.
