Quit editing your shit lol... brainiac is "stable"... I just don't know that it sporelates?

Lol :suicide:

Bullshit, glowing cubes can exist. A specialized lab is exactly where you wud do that. If you were to do some research you wud find companies out there right now that are creating bioluminescent plants and all kinda shit.

Braniac is interesting but not at all estetically pleasing and doesnt sporulate. At the moment i thnk it's jst a consistant mutation of a single culture. Not very useful.

Thats why you need crspr...

Also, its aesthetically. Aesthetic is visually pleasing where escetic means to be disciplined and abstain from indulgences.

Caps, why you worried?

Spore producers likely have more cubes going than 'exotics' its not farfetched to think there was cross contamination.

Sankhara. Did yiu get these spores from a sponsor? Don't name them, a yes or no will do

Do I think gypsum increases yield? No. But I have definitely noticed it helping
with clumping and honestly I'm a creature of habit:shrug:

That said I don't use it in subs anymore. Definitely not necessary but I like to use
it and probably will until the 5lbs or so that I have is gone

I wouldnt worry, they are easily identifiable in the case of being something inedible

No, i got them from a reputable vendor in reddit.

Now i know why the heck my jars never ever in the course of 6 months grew any sclerotia :specialralph:

Wow polyfill suuucks!

How the hell do people do multiple tubs with this and not go crazy??
In the past I got away with coffee filters and micropore tape, due to high general RH and only lightly fussed with polyfill, but my tubs are all beat up from experiments (turns out yes you can fruit off a half inch substrate) so they got taped up and generic polyfill holes cut out to clone hunt and boy is it a pain in the ass to deal with, it’s one thing to knock it out myself, it’s another for the mushy to shove it out the side. So I have to fight with it to stay put.

Two tubs later... Fuck this shit!
I’m delaying mixing up some bulk till I make one of Bod’s drilled hole tubs.

Yep they grew just fine so long as the tub was adjusted down to their level and a 2:1 or more bulk to spawn ratio was used to keep the water capacity up.  The main issue is they were often only one or two flush growers before I just couldn’t get them to rehydrate themselves anymore and at under an inch thick they were fragile after the first flush anyway.

I’ve used thin 2” substrate to go clone hunting in funny PE genetics, I’m not sure if my yields were better or worse but the number of options for clones seemed like a lot more.

What do you mean by tub adjusted to their level?

Holes brought a bit further down so they don’t have to reach as high for fresh air.  a 1” substrate compared to a 4” has 3 inches of potentially stale air above it that a normal sized substrate doesn’t have to deal with.  In the case of the no cut tubs it would be like getting a shorter tub.

Cereal still is made mostly out of millet. Or oat. And then flavoring and sugar and all the bullshit is added, but its really just reconstituted millet mash

I put syringe spores on agar a week ago. Total noob. Haven't seen anything that looks like mycelium yet! Activity on the plates but, so early in the stage I am unsure if what I am seeing is good or bad.

Bod's tubs are unmodded broseph... Subs any less than about 2" prove difficult to keep hydrated in some climates...

I mean myc growth on agar is pretty obvious. Sometimes it can look a bit weird when its all tom but it still looks like white myc. If you're seeing growth that doesn't look like myc then that's no good.

If you want to post pics of any growth, would receive a quick answer.

How did you put the spores on the agar? Did you streak?

*Edit* just reread your post and see you did via syringe. If you order any more spores, you want to streak from a print instead of using a syringe.

Gotcha. I jst measured and it looks like i been doing 1.75-2.5". Didnt knw that haha.

I was under the impression that anything under 2.5" was bad, causing stunted growth. But caps and you are saying it's jst difficult to hydrate.

That the final word on this?

I've done shoeboxes with like an inch and a half, as long as you can maintain surface conditions and there is enough water to access all the nutes in your grain it doesnt really matter how deep it is, but deeper subs regulate humidity better IME.
Above 4 inches and you're at risk of the sub cooking itself to death especially with high spawn ratios and below 2.5 it can be harder to maintain good conditions in a larger container. most people seem to aim for around 3-3.5

Thicker(even wetter)subs are also more susceptible to anaerobic conditions... This can allow bacteria to develop, and weaken immune response enough for secondary and tertiary decomposers(namely of a parasitic nature(like trichoderma)) to move in...  It's one of those things you CAN play with... BUT WHY?

There is never a final word. I know some great cultivators that prefer thin subs. I personally do between 3 and 4 inch subs though.

Climate is likely going to be the greatest deciding factor... Also, whether you're shooting for subsequent flushes... Some systems will work better flush and finish; in which case, I'd imagine thinner subs (less resources per tub) to be more ideal
