Huge Sclerotia harvest ! How to make chocolates??

So i had a great harvest of P. Galindoi Sclerotia. Something like 3.3 Pounds. Some of these things are huge , very healthy.

I have to many though and Iv been reading about preservation in various ways , But im finding so much Contradictory information.

Some say Make chocolates From fresh Truffles as they will lose to much potency if you dry them out.

Some Say Dry them anyway and powderize into melted chocolate.

Iv even read someone saying , keep them vac packed in the fridge for up to a year , and they also gain potency in the fridge apparently.

I will prob dry some though because I have so many it dosnt matter.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Dry, then powder, and then chocolate. But they last a long time dry, iv got some 3 or 4 year old ones that are still little ass kickers. You do have to eat a decent amount tho.

I would powder them and if possible vacuum seal before they dry because they will turn into rocks if you dry them as is

A little off topic, but I'm curious: what did you grow them in? a spawn bag? how long of a growth time? I grew in half gallon jars for 3 or 4 months and my biggest stones were half the size of your biggest. I think I also grew some in bags once and they weren't any bigger. Mine were straight coffee soaked grain though. It looks like you supplemented them with something more though? Did you grow your magic truffles in shit? :laugh: Nice harvest!

If you dry them they will become rocks.

If I was planning to blend them in chocolates I would slice and dice before drying so your blender doesn't get ruined.

I prefer to keep them fresh myself for personal use.

Keep us updated on what you choose and if it works well.

Filthy, how long have you kept them fresh for? can I vacuum seal them fresh and store for a decent time?

Just think of the huge commercial operations in Holland, they vaccum pack or otherwise seal theirs and they're available in retail, they must have a fair shelf life when refrigerated.

It's been years since I grew them so I can't give you an answer fresh in my mind but I would guess six weeks to two months at least, again this is a guess based on experience.

SO im getting the vibe i should dry and vac seal them, I dont mind that they are rock hard because i can powderize em fairly easily in a mortar and pestle with a little elbow grease. I guess ill just dry the majorority of them and make chocolates. What about making chocolates with the fresh truffles and then freezing? Iv heard ppl do this. I dont see why not.

I might dry some and vac pack em, make chocolates with powder, as well as make chocolates with fresh truffles and vac pack em.
Got so many. Might as well experiment.

This grow was a 66 QT monotub. Spawned regular on rye grain then spawned to tub.

Substrate was just coir and verm. ( maybe a bit of coffe grounds i cant remember )

After harvesting all the stones , i excluded stones that were tiny about the size of peas. I just recased what was left of the grow with Verm and let is recolonise for about a week or 2 and now its producing fruits again.

This tub has been around for almost 4 months with zero signs of contams. I think Sclerotia varieties are super hardy .

I have read ppl saying they can last up to a year vac sealed in the frigde. They also said that they get more potent as they age in the fridge.
I have no clue on if this is true or not. Just what iv read on the forums here. I hope that is the case.

I treated is like a regular monotub grow.

Coir/verm/gypsom ( maybe coffee but i forget )
66 qt mono tub.

This tub was spawned 06/06/19
Truffles were harvested 09/06/19

So exactly 3 months.

Largest stone weighs 88g. Total weigh 1487.81 g. ( 3.3 LB )

How do you powder a fresh truffle? I dont see how it would turn to powder. More of a paste?

And wouldnt this make it oxidize like crazy and lose potency?

Why not make fresh tea and freeze it? You can make pretty much anything you want after that.

My only concern is not getting all the actives out in the tea and then having " weak tea" .

Everytime iv made tea with dryed cubes its always a little bit weak.

Not a bad idea though. Im also concerned about someone throwing the tea out after finding it in the freezer lol

Weak teas come from either poor drying of the fungus or just crappy shrooms. Not the method unless you do something ass backwards.

Actives are most soluble in water anyway. Use ice cube trays and make cubes of concentrated tea. Label the bag and freeze. Lasts for months

Nothing wrong with the fungus. They kick ass when takin orally . I think I dont boil it enough to get a full extraction into the water.

I need to reveiw your tea thread. ( i think it was yours anyways )

That’s a great point the moisture would probably make it more pasty but after they dry whole you’re gonna have rocks..

Maybe put one in a coffee grinder and see what happens? You have enough truffles to try just about anything. Great haul by the way. Those are the biggest truffles I’ve ever seen

Iv dryed a few already. and your right they are like rocks. But in a mortar and pestle I was able to get them into a powder with out much trouble.

Mind you they were smaller stones. I imagine some of the huge ones would be alot harder.

Ill prob cut some of the bigger ones up before dehydrating.

Yo im guna eat some fresh sclerotia tonight. Im looking for something fairly intense.

Fall equinox ceremony type vibes.

I usually eat 5g of cubensis or around 3.5g APE ( Which is fucking insane)

How much fresh sclerotia should i eat to acheive these effects???

When I was in Amsterdam I ate I think 15g packet.I think? It was a long time ago, of galindoi and had a super visual trip. One of the best I ever had but I think it was brought up here? They put the work in to get those genetics

You can look online at Amsterdam truffles and see how many grams are in their packets

Being from the Netherlands myself I can confirm that. Most vendors say they will keep for 6 weeks refrigerated. And they usually stay on the safe side.

Ok... WHere to begin.

First off holy shit that was a very healing experience! One of the top 5 most profound healing ceremonies i have ever done solo.
I basically ground up 28g of truffle and a tbs of raw cacao powder into water and raw honey. and chugged it back. At first my stomach felt very neasues but that went away in 15 min and was fine the whole night.

It was alot different than a cube trip. Way more bodily sensational, less visual. But VERY deep, and mental. Kinda like a head fuck.
I did have some pretty insane CEV, like on DMT . But nothing compared to APE. WHen i focused my breathing i could have wild visuals.

I connected with my heart big time  ( this was a big intention of the night ) I connected to love, family friends , parents. I cryed for my brothers and sisters and the earth.
I sat and meditated for hours on the floor with the lights off and the album above playing. The music guided my soul where it needed to go to heal I beleive. Parts of the trip were very hard and sad and I had to work through deep dark emotions. It sort of became a little hard but i was able to work through it and all was really good. I realised alot about myself, I love myself alot more now and accept myself and all my darkness. I smoked a bit of weed here and there throughout the trip and it was very helpful.

I have to say. I Love truffles. that was a deep experience and very beneficial.

I think adding Cacao makes it Way more healing and deep, althoughou it can become almost hellish if your not strong.

I really wana figure out how to preserve these things fresh now I love sclerotia. This was my first experience with them. Resonates with me alot.

I am amazed that more people have not tried them, esp. seeing as they are so easy to grow. One of the most respected vendors used to (might still) give a free random cubensis syringe if you mentioned you were a shroomery member, so I would recommend getting a sclerotia strain and get your free cube syringe -perfect for newbies as if the cubes go wrong the sclerotia has more chance.

I cannot understand the lack of interest when you see posts like this from respected members.

It could be that in the US all are illegal, and people are not used to seeing them, and not as readily identified. While in countries where both shrooms & truffles were legal you would see them side by side, might have been a bit more stock of shrooms but not much.

Online the doses are usually 10-25g, many are now selling microdose packets cheaper so you can buy those and clone them, usually far cheaper than buying the spores, and some have had amazing results from cloning.

Blended truffles right into water, honey , and cacao. Felt like ayahuasca , so deep and healing . DMT like for sure.

OMG.
Truffles are the champagne of psilocybin containing fungus IMO.

In my experience, drying leads to a MASSIVE loss of potency and I'm yet to come across anything that can preserve them well.

I don't consider 6-8 weeks preserving, especially with a 3 pound harvest. Although excellent wet, they degrade far to much when dried.

I don't consider 6-8 weeks preserving, especially with a 3 pound harvest. Although excellent wet, they degrade far to much when dried.


By fresh, I mean Wet of course but yeah, three pounds is a bit much for 6 weeks lol

Has anyone tried storing them in rice? It’s common practice in the culinary industry. And then cook the rice once you’ve used the truffles.

How do they taste fresh?  Is it similar to the taste of shrooms?  How long did those take to grow out?

Then you could freeze for long term storage.



And yea in my opinion they taste terrible and I almost puked when I first tryed to eat one straightup.

Blended into a cacao / honey smoothie tho it wasnt bad.

The water in fresh sclerotia will screw up the chocolate. Chocolate should be made with dry tissue.

So then what if I dry , powderize and add to chocolate and just add huge amounts of the truffles to the melted chocolate? I guess it would take some trial and error to find out just how much dry material should be added .

From spawn to harvest was roughly 3 months i beleive.

You can certainly just add dry material to chocolate. Just measure your amounts, blend thoroughly and do the math for dosing. As for clever ways to incorporate fresh stone extract into chocolate; you could make chocolate truffles filled with fresh sclerotia infused filling. It may be a bit of work, but it will retain the potency and potentially be the best truffle ever. Truffle truffles.

I just looked into raspberry filled truffles. All you've got to do different is add your reduced mush/sclerotia solution to the filling puree before you add the sugar. This is mixed with your ganache, chilled, shaped, and finally coated. I'll definitely be giving this a try sooner or later. I only have ~120g of stones right now.

I made chocolate with dried stones, I'd just say I did it ONE time.

I would blend them VERY well because my chocolate came out edible but you could 100% feel the rock-like 'stones' (wonder why they're called that..) flecks in the chocolate you certainly didn't want to try to bite through or risk chipping a tooth.

Firstly I would not use sclerotia paste directly, but instead boil your sclerotia paste, strain the solids out and reduce the solution. This reduction needs to be added to your puree so you combine the liquids. You then add your dry to your wet; sugar added to puree/solution.

How do you gauge dosage?

Also wont boiling / reducing for such a long time oxidize the actives?
