Non-viable spores from Sporeworks?
    #26202623 -

Hate to make a post for this... turns out I ordered recently a PE spore syringe and used it on 8/30 to inoculate some MEA plates, but there's no germination as of today. I also inoculated some PF-TEK style substrate the same day with the same result.

The label on the syringe says "8/19", so I assume that means the syringe was made in August and the spores should be fresh. So far, the opposite seems to be the case and after 23 days I have very little hope the spores are viable.

My past experience with Sporeworks was great. I ordered an APE syringe a year ago and the spores germinated fast.
I've always held Sporeworks in high regard, so these results are the last thing I was expecting, given the popularity and well-deserved reputation Sporeworks has
earned over years of being a top-notch spore supplier and Shroomery sponsor.

I'm here basically looking for advice on what should I do next. I feel that living in Europe is going to make everything more complicated.

Kindly let them know that the syringe has failed.
If they back their service/product they should offer you a replacement....free of charge.
Maybe was a bad batch??
Happens even to the best...

I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

You don't say...

Imma try it again following the "protocol" but honestly I feel the ain't gonna send me a replacement (or a free of charge replacement) for several reasons... one of them is that I've waited too long before taking action and contacting them. Just wanted to give the spores plenty of time I guess, but they're dead looks like.

I want to grow this variety so badly but after this my pride isn't gonna let me buy from them again unless they offer me a solution.

That Spanish is getting good bruh :awesomenod:

Yeah been a minute... I do lurk a lot tho, just don't feel like posting if I'm not growing. Finally managed to move my mush equipment from Malaga to Madrid where I live now (6 long hours by car). Cultures are very much alive and kickin after a long hibernation in the fridge so the time has come to get my hands dirty again.

Theyre not easy to get replacements from. They did it for me once but it was a Whole set of syringes i paid for and alot of them crapped out. Its still the "go-to" shroomery spore source unless anything changed.

One of the pricier ones, and now we lost 3 sponsors for spores (altho of course theyre still around)

Instead of syringes, give prints a shot esp with agar. I know theres less selection but youll have a bunch of cube spores for many...microscopes, and they will likely be viable

The only time i use syringes with SW is to look at PE

I haven't seen your activity in the forum for a while, I'm glad you keep growing mushrooms, I live in Madrid if one day you want to drink coffee and talk about mushrooms, greetings

I hear Madrid is the shit. I too have been on myco-vacation, just getting shit up and running again. For me, brand new cultures from some prints acquired over the summer > millet this time (usually its rye)

Im curious about the new sponsor but its only syringes so ill wait to put some PE under the scope once its available

PS from SW the syringes are always full of a black mass it seems to me. A little less so with PE/APE etc but still a very noticeable amount of spores. I hope they didnt lower the entire spore count of each syringe. I like prints a lot more but theres no PE that way and only a few varieties are available as prints. Still, at least youre guaranteed a bunch of spores

If its actually totally clear, wtf

Some Other vendors have clear syringes but SW is known to load them up
