I confess: I have a thing for infomercials!!!
    #2620213 - 04/30/04 08:01 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Whenever I flick on the TV, it's inevitable that I'll eventually land on a channel with an infomercial and then watch it for the next hour. It's like I get enthralled by finding out what all those funny little gadgets do.

I know, I know. I know it's dirty of me.

But I just can't help it!!

Me too. Sunday's are crazy for me. I love watching infomercial because I always seem to know what's gonna happen. I'm sittin' in front of the TV like,"Alright, now there gonna slash one payment!"
It's crazy, I know.

I've abolished TV and all it's perils of hypnogogic-hypnotic-hype-tripe..

I'm a read-a-holic, now..

It's funny how by the end they've totaly convinced you that you cannot live without such and such crap. The final result in your mind is always comical.

"How did i ever get along without it! And its SO affordable right now."

You really have to get your priorities set in stone before watching those things. "NEEDS > wants".

how true this is...

I remember getting all wrapped up in a NADS commercial once and I was just sitting there going: "that's amazing! I need to start waxing my legs now"

and of course I never actually went through with it...but looking at my hairy ass gorilla legs (and thinking about the product) I'm considering going out and picking up a tub a that goop right now

mmmmm...silky legs  :smirk:

Who doesn't like infomercials/paid programs? I like the one where the guy tries to sell those knives. And he cuts all that food up, then throws it in the garbage. It's also cool how obnoxious he is... he's pretty intense.

i love the ronco rotiserri one.  my dad bought it and that thing is amazing, makes some dank food!  mmmm.... :drooling:.......

when there isn't anything good on t.v., i'm not doing anything, and there is an infomercial for a product that sparks atleast SOME interest in me i will watch it for a while...i've watched a number of them.

I saw a commercial for some ab machine the other day and was like that thing is gay, and thought who in the world would buy it? And the next day i go to this girls house and i saw it there, i think it was her moms.

what's wrong with watching an infomercial...they can be entertaining...

Like Ripple said: "set it and FORGET IT!"
My dad and i were joking about this and were like "what so you never come back and leave it on forever? wouldn't it start on fire...blah blah blah." I guess it was more funny when we were saying it....yeah, it probably was.

Another commonly humorous tidbit about infomercials, is that there's usually one person pretending to be incredibly DENSE and slow, and the other person always condescends with repetitive answers with an super-gleaming smile.. Example:

"So, let me get this straight.. you can cut this soda can in HALF with not even an OUNCE of pressure on your handlebar???"

"That's correct, Bob! Not only is this knife capable of such amazing feats, but it can even slice a copper bar in half!!"

"Wow! So, wait...you're telling me I can actually rip a copper pipe from my sink and slice it in half with this knife??"

"Indeedilly doo Bob. This knife is so sharp, you can even split a hair strand in half!"

"Whoa!! I can cut a hair strand in half with this beautiful knife?? Wow!! Wait till my wife hears THIS!"

"You got it Bob. Even more amazing; this knife is capable of penetrating your momma's buttcheeks!"

"Whaat? Oh my goodness!! So I can penetrate my momma's buttcheeks with this knife??"

"Oh yes you can..."

"I can?? Wow!!"

"Yup."

"Really??! I can.."

"Bob, STFU."

:penis:

yeah...it's like the one person has all the info and the other person acts like they have NO clue about the product...it's funny.

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone!

Last night for example, I was watching the infomercial for this magical-blender type thingie and they had created an entire DRAMA to revolve around showing what the gadget did.  They had the hungover drunken brother who needed a smoothie to perk up his day, they had the other sober brother who wanted an omlette, they had the grouchy old grandmother who needed pesto for her pasta...it was endless!!!  They were all doing these cheesy lines pretending to be a family and watching what the gadget did.  It was so BAD but I had to keep watching because that gadget was awesome!

I usually stop on the food shows late at night when I have the munchies. The exercise infomercials suck. Tony Little...
