I reviewed BSM's research before i bought my first 5lb bag. He's a good dude too. But i have a difficult time believing jst yet that Bk is consistant in the ways i need it to be.
Another person's research is fantastic for developing ideas and trying new things, but i dnt believe shit until i prove it to myself. Sounding promising though.

Well... Pasteurizing not going to really prove anything then? What's the harm if they're flopping? I suspect the sterilization/pasteurization to be the issue in fact... :2cents:

I dnt yet understand your candor. Seems like you write like you speak like i do but i cant picture that style. It's like those are two opposing comments. I'll get ya figured soon.

Prove anything? Idk. My spawn was totally fucked so there has been no control. Im not that interested in formal experiments with Bk.

I been thnking hard lately if thers something i wish to accomplish in mycology specifically. I dnt wish to nor can i physically keep up with any production style grow environment.
I can barely keep up with 9 tubs. I feel like possibly there is something more focused i shud be focusing on.

Like cross breeding or something at the plate level of the process.

hmmm... I'm saying, if you've been sterilizing/pasteurizing, and only having failure, it may be contributing... These processes eliminate beneficial microbes that are present as well... I'm saying that pastuerizing the next round will do nothing in the way of determining if "from the bag" holds any merit... And I'm also saying, that there's no harm in trying it straight from the bag, if your attempts so far have failed anyhow...

I'm sure we, as a community, can come up with SOMETHING to put you on! Any suggestions peeps!?

You got a scope timbo? Ill give you some prints to analyze and germ if thats what you like to do

I really would like to focus on genetics as well, but the only issue with that is you still have to fruit them to actually test them. and my problem with THAT problem is i fucking love spawning and fruiting, it's my favorite part of the process. Agar and genetics is second on its heels, but i dont have a scope nor can i justify spending money on one when agar can tell me what i need to know:if it's contaminated. thats really all i care about.

I have some jars that are obviously contaminated and as they always do with this strain have started invitro grows.  I can get a fair amount out of them and because I have so many jars have the capacity to experiment.  If I mix with substrate I might get a flush but It allot of work for a maybe.

What are peoples experience with invitro grows and if say for example I spawned these jars to coir and colonised it in a growbag but instead of fruiting just let it go what do you think the results would be.  Contaminated jars don't turn green after week i've found but will in a substrate during fruiting.  Mold might need air to germinate and so if keep without allow mycellium to fruit.

Has anyone ever tried this before or have any idea what I am talking about?  I like the idea of just tipping shitty jars into a bag but hopeful thinking doesn't make mushrooms.

I see quite a bit of popped but not burst kernels. Thats usually a good indicator
of proper moisture content but hell I don't know

Well this is after a PC run. It was an experimental batch so I guess I may just mocc em with LC. I have more millet that soaked overnight to run.  I tried boiling water dump n soak for a few hrs. When I noticed they weren't softening up wlas expected I loaded some damp and there be the result.

In my opinion, no. it's almost impossible for it too look to dry. Specially without more details. I prep my wbs super duper dry (as to be able to use a bunch of liquids on it) and it just looks like bird seed in a bag. Not dry or wet, just a bag of seed.

How long has that been chillin? pre or post PC?

And Edmunter, I wouldn't bother putting contamed jars into bags. I guess it depends what you mean by cotamed though. Best thing I've found with obviously fucked but not total trash jars is to through a casing on as many as i have and through them i a mono together. They take a little misting and a bottom water here or there but can absolutely put off some fruits.

Edit cause i saw the responses

I think the grain is good then. I do wbs a lot like that and they don't cook much during the soak. I load them rather wet (even into gallon bags) and they cook and soak up the excess during the cycle.

But i digress (just a tad) because loading wet is such a relative thing. I've loaded wbs done that way after straining for just three minutes, no shaking or stirring or anything. Just long enough to let all the main water pour through.

Sometimes I let my wbs sit in strainer for hours before loading, sometimes I only wait a few mins

Doesn't seem to matter much either way to me...

Dump WBS into large pot, fill with (cold) water/stir/dump/refill about 3 times. Let set for 8-24 hours. Drain into strainer. Let sit in strainer for 3 min to a few hours depending on what I'm doing at the time. Sometimes I will lift the strainer up and down a few times to use gravity for pushing out a bit extra water, sometimes I don't bother.

Load it up and PC

the ol overnight soak. I've done a shitload of bags this way and find a shorter strain to be a bit better than a longer one. Both work though. Easy peasy

Yeah I am increasingly starting to load the WBS into jars wetter, as I figure they can prob use the extra moisture during PC cycle... particularly if I do a shorter soak
