Grandma is high as a kite on God after vising the Ark.  I try to be supportive but there's a lot of questions normal people have, Christians do not.

How'd a man live to be 600 years old?  He'd be a bag of skin and bones.  A normal person would find it very hard to believe, a Christian see's it as the greatness of God (their accepted mass delusion).

How's a man 525 years old organize the building of a boat the size of 3 football fields?  Do old people just suck that much today that they don't have magical powers?

It's not even peoples first guess not to believe the impossible.  Oh the power of myth.

Indeed, the power of myth. I just want to know how boards might have been milled back then, how nails were made (but the Iron I age was 1200-1000 BCE and the Book of Genesis was 1450-1400 BCE, so it must've been Bronze Age. Would bronze nails work?), whether pitch (it would seem a whole LaBrea tar pit for the ark) was used for water-proofing. Forget the pairs of animals or the largely unexplored planet (Noah didn't need Polar bears) which was probably a flat-earth when the myth was written. That bizarre theme park lists a crazy time-frame even for dinosaurs. They do not show much on the site but I once saw someone's hidden camera pics (I wish I still had that). https://arkencounter.com

Looks to me like someone used modern day technology to build an ark and capitalize on peoples Christian religious beliefs.  Which falls in line with exactly what mainstream Christianity has become today... very sad, sad stuff.

I had an interesting arguement with someone the other day - whose "worse" in terms of morals and ethics, Christains or Satanists?  Christains burned people at the stake alive for being different, and satanists sacrificed animals.  Modern day people would believe the satanists are worse.

(I am neither of those)

Aside from a kinky rebelliousness in Renaissance France, Satanists and Satanism is a modern phenomenon with Anton Szandor LaVey's Church, then Michael and Lilith Aquino defecting to create the Temple of Set, and then just rock albums and occult art without much substance. Clearly, the 'Holy Inquisition,' the various crusades against Cathars and Muslims, the periodic expulsions and genocides against Jews, and the persecutions of witches, heretics like the brilliant Meister Eckhart, magicians, and learned visionary men like Giordano Bruno have done far, Far, FAR more damage than any professed Satanists have historically.

My son is familiar with Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis and his Ark Encounter theme park. He asked me recently how Noah and his family were able to collect and redistribute all of the species to their proper continents. I just laughed.

Maybe Noah/Nuh made an ark of a realistic-to-build size, and God chose to reward it by making it big.

Maybe it was like the Tardis: many times bigger on the inside than the outside.

Naw, propaganda just used to be easier.  Now people burn out cause information requires being actionable.  Without action information is just blah blah blah.  So the news blahs blahs blahs hoping for action (which is power).

I don't even think people would know what to want.  So many dreams are blah blah blah.

I've played the lotto for years and hit 4 balls once (didn't cash it cause I was new to the game and stupid, afraid to ask for a scan and look stupid) well I don't think there is an ideal life.

But buzzed helps.

I'd consider visiting it just for laughs, but I think it'd be super rude to be laughing my way through the whole thing while others are taking seriously, so I won't actually visit.

Thank you! My son is 16. He has gone to a Christian school since preschool (his Mom's decision) and is still in Christian school. He frequently shows me YouTube videos of "The Atheist Experience" which rips the whole Creationism "argument" to shreds. Last week he texted me at lunch break that his Bible teacher showed the class a 40 minute video about The Ark made by Answers in Genesis. I replied OMG . . .  The proposition that dinosaurs were on the ark is beyond hilarious. AIG says Genesis 7:14–15 says two of every kind of land animal onto the Ark. It doesn’t say two of every species went onto the Ark . . . bla bla bla

Ancient cultures all over the world have origin stories with many parallels to each other, including the memory of a previous "golden age", a paradise that humanity fell from for disobeying God, as well as divine judgment via a worldwide flood.

But those are part of the ancient cosmology - they are supposed to be taken metaphorically and not literally - its not supposed to be the stuff thats going on you pay attention too, its the parabolic lessons in between and the subtle wisdom it reveals.  The bible stories are the same yet fucking idiotic christains think of them as reality to further justify and prove other selective facets of the bible they want to be reality.

I agree with you about allegory in the Bible, but I think it's important that we try and have tolerance and respect to those with different beliefs. It is the Spirituality forum after all.

Well I'm absolutely tolerant if people want to learn and live under the lessons the Bible teaches (or their selected verses) - but I think it's idiotic to take that stuff literally.

Its like parabolic - and some of them are hyperparabolic - there's a lesson behind the apparent lesson.  Unfortunately those teachings have been sundered over time.  Personally, I actually think there's quite a bit of wisdom in the bible - i.e the father (creator), the son (mankind), and the holy ghost (our spirit).  The reification of self unto the father and the tandem reverse of the father becoming the son as one.  There's a lot in there, but it's like what Socrates called a mirrored-mirror - they are just looking at the reflection, not the reflection of the reflection.

Like a lot of Hinduism is VERY hyperparabolic - and I think they wrote it as such so nobody thought to take it literally.
