Psychedelics will definately hone in on, or bring to the surface, repressed memories.

Can't say I have ever experienced false memories, although I have experienced psychosis and delusions with psychedlics but was always able to sort out real from imaginary after the experience ended. Even when delusional I would believe wrongly that bad/false things were going to happen, but I never really beleived that bad/false things had happened, and certainly not in the long term.

I actually remember alot from my childhood. I know that for many people who have been abused as children the brain blocks out these painful memories, but this can lead to mental health problems in itself, such as depression and suicidal thoughts, I guess because the person senses subconsciously that something is not right and therefore can never really get comfortable. But thats just conjecture not sure of the actual mechanism involved.

Its definitely not out of the realm of possibility that you were just seeing weird shit. I've experienced myself, the mind impulsively taking me to disgusting places where I didn't want to go, almost just because it could do so. Like what's the most disgusting thing I can think of kind of thing! It's like an OCD thing.

But probably depends really how you felt when it was happening. Did it feel like you were watching something, or actually truly remembering something?

Then again it could be a crazy kind of delusion, that I myself never experienced. Guess anything is possible!

I don't know if repressed memories are common or not, but I do believe they're possible. It might be a good idea to find a therapist that specializes in childhood sexual abuse and tell them about what happened. If possible find one that won't just blame it on the psychedelics as a knee jerk reaction. Until you sort this out it might be a good idea to avoid psychedelics.

What is important to know is that if it really did happen, you're not alone. It happened to both me and my brother. You were a helpless child and what happened was in no way your fault.

I had a most intense year and half of tripping balls, had a lifetime of childhood memorys come flooding back during this time.

Some good, some stuff my brain shut out for 30+ years. I had to take the last year off of trippin due to re occuring themes.

I ended up going to a 4 different therapists to talk about it. And three of them blamed the mushrooms and cannibis use. The 4th guy i seen understood all too well. He was almost like a shaman of sorts.

If you want and or need he have an anonymous forum bro.

The mushrooms are a very special material, they will show you what you need to see. Try to use this to grow as a person. It wont be easy but nothing worth doing is.

Have a look at 'The mind explained' on Netflix. It has interviews with doctors and psychologists that explain how unreliable the memory is and how easy it is to influence it. To trick a mind into firmly believing a false memory is scarily easy to do.

Id like to believe this is the case. The only thing is no one primed me. I took mushrooms and thought i was gonna throw on my potters wheel but instead i couldn't stop seeing different instances of myself being specifically sexually abused.

My wife brought up repressed memories on accident with with guided meditations she was doing. They were confirmed by an aunt to be true and similar things happened to several people in her family from the same person. She was depressed and sexually dysfunctional all her life and was seeking healing from this when the memories came up.

So yes it can happen and quite possibly what you remember is true. My advice is get with a therapist as soon as you can and start working through it. Shit is no joke. But it can also be a relief to understand who you are after so long. And you can heal from it too.

Good luck

Yeah it’s a little different when he’s directly experiencing something don’t ya think? The mind doesn’t usually create specific false memories out of nothing like that. There’s at least some reason op had these visions. Whether they happened for real or not.

So to OP, it is actually kind of common for people to relive trauma on psychedelics, stuff that actually happened that was confirmed by other people. Do some research, you’ll find a lot of stuff pop up in regards to that

This has always been a really intriguing topic to me. I’ve never had this experience and I’ve thought about if I did how would I believe that I’m reliving something that actually happened? It’s probably a really bizarre thing to go through huh? I couldn’t imagine the thoughts going through your head. Apart of me feels like I have some of these repressed memories for whatever reason, I’m not sure if I would be able to handle facing that yet. I’m not sure what advice I could even give you to be honest. Maybe talking to people who have experience with this/won’t discount the fact right away you experienced this on a psychedelic substance would help you sort it out.

It seems important to remain honestly neutral until you’re really swayed one way or another that it actually happened or not

Your brain is an open message board sending neurons all throughout your brain down pathways that you no longer are able to tune into. I've had this same experience but not a graphic traumatizing experience. I have had visions of myself playing basketball with my grandpa. All the things we would do together when I was younger with my grandparents.

My eyes were open and I was in touch with the real world but it was like a 'thought movie'.. or visions that I could see so clear. It was taking over from the wall I was looking at, just playing clear as day in front of me

It made me extremely sad.. happy.. thoughts and memories that I forgot all about that came to the surface. Mushrooms brings everything to surface. I'm not sure about 'fake'. Maybe you had a really fucked up dream one night & forgot about it and it got piled into the subconscious mind.. and became surfaced during your experience.

I’m skeptical about all that too. Apparently the Catholic Church is very keen to call such ‘experts’ to their defense whenever they have a witness they want discrediting. Plants a seed of doubt in the juries, and even more despicably, maybe even the witnesses mind.

First off i wanted to say thanks to you guys for not judging me and not making me feel weird while helping me through this. I had this experience in 2015 and it was too much for me to handle so i just tried not to think about it. But i keep having problems emotionally and with heroin and im wondering if this maybe is my issue? Well either way your words have encouraged me to take the steps to talk to a professional about this.

That's highly suggested brother. When we do negative actions.. negative consequences come with the deal. Its how you deal with it is what will make you or break you. I've seen many people go down the rabbit hole trying to self diagnose and loading themselves up to get away from suppressed thoughts and outlooks on their life.

Only got one experince down here man.. make the most of it. Treat yourself well. My best wishes for you on your journey buddy..

I believe shrooms can definitely resurface old/suppressed memories. Shrooma have an introspective ability and can make people ponder on their past, present and future.

Sounds like you need some professional help OP. I would seek out a therapist or a sexual abuse support group. This is pretty serious if you do have supressed memories of child abuse.

Good luck

Well, I dont know how easy would be for you to face him, but he is the one that can confirm if those memories real.

If you just accuse him he'd likely deny, but there are other ways to make him implicitly confirm if that happened.
