Found in The Northeast - Maine. I can’t find anything definitive in field guide.

Habitat:

Growing scattered near hardwood and conifers, popping up through thick leaf cover from last season.

Gills:

White to tan darkening to a rusty color with spore release.

Stem:

White to yellow with vertical lines up the length of the stem.

Cap:
2 to 6 inches, light tan to brown with shades of red and orange, darkening with age.

Spore print color:
Rust

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:

So this is the only mushroom I’ve smelled that smells like a cube that isn’t a cube (fairly sure).
