The original link simply brings up an interesting idea of how neuroplasticity can in some cases help with the healing process.

There are multiple sources to support the idea that delirium differs from schizophrenia in regard to the onset and persistence of the effects. e.g. https://wikidiff.com/delirium/schizophrenia

This one was an interesting find as my own symptoms of delirium occurred after having not slept for almost 3 days and improved as my sleep improved. Although I didn't have psychosis.
Quote:
The suggested causal mechanism of delirium in psychosis is sleep disruption. Sleep is essential for maintenance of memory circuits which otherwise suffer progressive synaptic weakening due to molecular turnover. When sleep is disrupted, memory circuits deteriorate, and subsequent activation of incompetent circuits can generate psychotic symptoms. Induction of physiologically-normal sleep would therefore be expected to produce significant clinical improvement in patients with psychotic symptoms.

Maybe you're equating psychotic symptoms or psychosis with schizophrenia?

Quote:
Schizophrenia is a mental illness that causes psychosis, but schizophrenia also has other symptoms. And it isn’t the only cause of psychosis. In some cases, other mental illnesses cause psychosis, including depression, bipolar disorder, dementia and borderline personality disorder. Psychosis may come up during times of extreme stress, a major lack of sleep, or trauma. People who are using or withdrawing from certain drugs or medications may experience psychosis. Psychosis may also be caused by a brain injury, neurological problem, or other health problem. So while psychosis can be a part of schizophrenia, it can be caused by many other things too.

Psychosis and schizophrenia are treatable. It’s important to seek help as soon as possible.

I do have thoughts about the similarities between schizophrenia and drug induced delirium & psychoses. I'm not convinced that Shamanic states and contact with dmt entities are entirely different.

I don't remember my bout of psychosis, bar one fleeting moment of eye contact. Being induced to a coma may have played a role in the memory lapse I'm unsure.

I'm not sure what schizophrenia is like, though a family member who had had it had frequently asked others if the people on the radio station were talking to them too.

And in my time of delirium I had heard a lot of things that may well, I can accept they were, a part of my delirium. Fortunately there was nothing permanent about it and I had the help I needed right thereafter (next day), which was a psychiatrist to talk to.

He looked back at my time and day, my symptoms and my explained experience, and he told me I was delirious, to my relief. Thereafter I was better prepared and more aware of how important it was to catch myself from being convinced by delirium, for the next few days at least, until my symptoms had cleared up and my attention to detail was restored.

The first step was to remember my surroundings because I was in a bed and I wasn't going anywhere.

Whatever substance you encountered, on that dark continent of yours, that precipitated the experience may well be waiting for the next unsuspecting sojourner. The worst encounter I've had with the natural world was with a Brown Recluse while tending to a dilapidated deck.

I really don’t know what you mean.

Evolution is genetics and epigenetics is gene expression..

epigenetics includes non chromosomal genetic inheritance such as mitochondrial inheritance (matriarchal mostly - i.e. in egg cytoplasm - occasionally sperm mitochondria take part) i.e. genetic inheritance that is not in chromosomal genes.

epigenetic peptide helpers affecting gene expression can be part of it, although mostly they are encoded in inherited genes.

the rest of gene expression influence is environmental
