Ran out of nutes? Mine did that a couple of times they can only eat what you gave them to begin with and after that the poor things starve to death!

I really dont know how long it will keep, but I have read that you can put it in the fridge and it will keep for a month? But dont hold me to that.
I just use a empty syringe and fill it full of the stuff(a little mycelium and alot of karo/water.)

I have no idea at all of what you are talking about
If you take some of the karo/water/mycelium mix and inject into another batch of karo/water-that would work but only under sterile conditions.I hope I'm not wrong on this.
If you take some of the karo/water/mycelium mix and make a full syringe of it and used that for your jars - yes you can.Just suck up as much of it as you can.and inject away.

If you just add a lot of Karo to begin with it'll keep for a really long time. I've had mine for well over 2 months now and it's still going strong. More nuts plus sterile conditions = long life, right?

Domey said: What about if I were to suck out some of just the karo water.
Then heat up another batch of Karo + water(With more karo this time)
And then inject that into my jar?
Would that work? So it would continue growing.
ok karo myc will stop growing once it eats up all the nutes thats why i always double the amount of karo i use (2tblspns/100 mls water) also instead of doing all that ^^^ yr talking about just make up another jar using the ratios i just gave you then suck some karo mix from yr 1st jar into a syringe and inject it into yr new jars. this also has the benefits of increasing speed

Hehe i know, and the teks are incredible don't get me wrong. I've just been a good guesser the last two experiments i've done (cakes and karo) on both of them I eye balled the amounts and am getting really good results. But like Quote:

I had the same problem and here is what I finaly came up with that works well for me. First of all you definately want to go a little heavier on the Karo than a tsp\100mil if you want to grow a fat jar in my experience. To solve the blowout problem I got away from jars period and went to the disposeable gladware containers you get at wallmart or any big grocery store. The four pack of the ones about the size of a fist seem to work quite well and cost about 3 bucks. Just fill it about half way up with bottled water and add your Karo. Then drill a hole(or melt it with a hot nail or something) about 1\8 inch in one corner of the lid about a half an inch from the rim. Stick it in and nuke it for a few minutes a couple of times. For this part you will need some high temp silicone from the autoparts store. As soon as you open the door squeeze a blob the silicone over the hole and close the door. (When you are ready to take it out of the microwave make sure the lid didnt get a little loose during nuking and put a piece or two of tape around the whole thing for good measure in case you might accidentally dislodge the lid moving it around in the future.) The silicone will set up pretty good in about an hour and you now have a sterile Karo solution complete with a self sealing port for the needle. I know it seems like a hassle to go out and get this stuff but its worth it if you want to get good results. The best silicone is the kind for sealing gaskets on car motors called RTV blue.(about $3 and will last forever) Hope this helps---By the way you could do the same with a jar with a plastic lid. The air trapped inside the container is plenty to grow the myc out IME>
