Trump is a fucking ace. Right before the elections, he builds wall and gets tough on on assylum seekers.

In a major win for the Trump administration, the Supreme Court issued an order late Wednesday ending all injunctions that had blocked the WhiteHouse's ban on asylum for anyone trying to enter the U.S. by traveling through a third country, such as Mexico, without seeking protection there.

Your statement before suggests that Mexico rejected them...I was simply addressing that. If inhad to take a guess, when leaving a war zone you probably dont want to take asylum in a cartel run kinda war zone where you are likely to get caught up in just as bad of shit as in your home country.

Dam, if Mexico can't be a safe haven because it's a "war zone", that means NOT only does the US need to accept all migrants from Central America, the US also needs to accept any of the 127,00,000 Mexicans seeking asylum.

Holy shit, the US is one of the few safe places on the globe today and is now morally obligated to accept hundreds of millions of poor migrants.

This is all very good stuff to know, I'm sure you can sell this concept to the vast majority of the US population.  OK US citizens, your nation is going to become another third world nation because there's no safe place to live in the rest of the world today.

Just one question, where do US citizens go to live when the US becomes a third world shit hole?

Come on man, you're not making any logical sense at all, IF Mexico is inhabitable, then ALL 127,000,000 Mexicans need to seek asylum in the US, correct?

The fact of the matter is Mexico is completely habitable, you're just making excuses for economic migrants that want a higher standard of living in the US.

You do realize there's war zone like areas in the US today?  Does that entitle me to seek asylum in Canada? Absolutely NOT.

You still havent shown a shred of evidence that suggests they are economic migrants and not asylum seekers. There are standards as to what constitutes an asylum seeker here:

And I maintain that bit makes no sense for someone fleeing persecution and violence to go somewhere where there is a higher rate of persecution and violence. And definitely not where human trafficking is through the roof.

As a side note: if you're fleeing Compton to get away from gang violence, you dont move to Detroit...

Sure, anyone can APPLY for asylum, that hardly means they're going to meet the requirements in that host nation. Fleeing from poverty doesn't meet that requirement, that's what most are really doing and I don't even blame them.

The FIRST nation is where that person MUST seek asylum, not the second or third.  Mexico is usually the first and it meets the requirement to address the asylum seeker.

The US has the same level of legal obligation as Canada does in this situation- which is completely zero.

I don't believe your simplified characterization of the two viewpoints is accurate.


Beyond that, something along the lines of what another member posted recently is much of what id like to see in our current society (and specifically not a future or ideal society).  We should divert money from the building of detention facilities and wall replacement to speed up the processing of asylum applicants & emigres.

Hire more immigration judges and support staff & open facilities therefore.  Process asylum applicants and other migrants much more speedily.  Perform vetting more efficiently by utilizing NSA super computer spying and information gathering resources.  Do whatever is necessary to speed up all aspects of immigration processing & swiftly deport back to country of origin any of those not granted access.

Develop and implement a comprehensive integration program for those granted access. We need to encourage participation in our society & economy whether that means working in agriculture & agricultural processing or providing trade school assistance.  Not least, very harshly punish employers who exploit undocumented labor.

Something along those lines, but let's not pretend this is my expertise or that I have half the answers...and I'm generally an a-hole so consider that as well.
