My opinion on transgender and its increasing frequency of occurrance.
    #26181261 -

First of all, I want to extend my minority solidarity to people who are transgender. I empathize with the struggle, the hard journey of authentic transgenderedness. I once wrote a tuturial on how to make estradiol blotter for a transgender friend who has since handed it down so, I'm sympathetic to the cause.

But, I see transgender, in most cases, as an illness.

Hold the phone. :standingby:

I define transgender as a discrepancy between body gender and brain gender, a discrepanjcy leading to dysphoria and a lifelong struggle.

I'm not saying that a person with a penis who feels they should be a woman, has a mental problem.

I'm saying that I believe that in most cases that the "gender settings" of the body and the brain are at odds, and that this constitutes the problem.

The body and brain were constructed due to differing gender blueprints.

Personally, and no offense to transgendrs intended, I see the reason for the increase in the transgender condition as being the presence of endocrine disruptors in the food and environment of pregnant women.

Endocrine disruptors, such as BPA are all around us in great quantity. A CD or DVD disc is 80% BPA, to name just one. Endocrine disruptors disrupt the balance of hormones.

Many endocrine disruptors cross the placenta.

Hormonal balances in the foetus regulate the development of characteristics.

The body and brain gestate at different times during the pregnancy.

I can totally see why external alterations in the hormonal balance in the foetus, such as by varying levels of endocrine disruptor levels, can lead to a higher incidence of the genderedmness of the body and brain being genuinely at odds.

So, to summarize, what I believe:

-Transgender is a physical condition, not something a person thinks but something that is a biological reality.
-Genuine transgenders are "born that way", the discrepancy they experience is genuine.
-increase in occurrance of transgender is due to increase of hormonal disruption during pregnancy.

Most Transgenders are not happy about being Transgender. A desire for the physical gender to match the mental gender defines their struggle. They are duped by this discrepancy, and this is why I consider this discrepancy an illness - because I see it as a valid medical condition that reflects a biological reality, which presents a great burden to them.

Therefore, I consider hormonal and surgical treatments, if desired, entirely justified.

When I deal with a person in everyday life I deal with their mind and not their physical genitals, so as a person is predominantly defined by their mind, it is the body that is at odds with the mind and that the mind's gender takes precedence.

That's my opinion in a nutshell.

I think it has more to do with the fact that its more socially acceptable to come out as transgender.

Mhm. Reading a history book will confirm. Transsexuality (and even homosexuality but let's not open that can of worms....) has massive peaks in history in certain cultures. Directly related to it's acceptance. No this was not exclusive to "nobility" and elites like many claim. I think true-blue gender dysphoria exists, but is uncommon as all fuck. I think the rise in transexuality is directly due to cultural influence and I think the evidence is overwhelming and undeniable.

The OP's reasoning seems "pulled out the ass", so to speak. Baseless speculation. Off the top of his head.

Could you stop being a jerk in my direction regardless of the topic I post about? Find another way of being an edgelord, the antagonistic jabs are getting old.

If you are of a different opinion, fine, but why use such loaded language?

Have you considered that the desire to be the opposite gender could be caused by a spiritual possession?

Look through my post history. You are certainly not a target of mine. Expressing my disagreements with members is nothing new. Just cuz youve been saying more disagreeable shit lately doesn't mean im after you, get over yo self man. Your responses seem to usually be complaining that im disagreeing with you rather than continuing the discussion.

Depending on which model you use of making sense of tyhe universe, all things could be argued a case of spirit possession.

I don't think it's that, particularly.

But that hardly means that it doesn't have a real biological basis like Asante suggested.

I addressed that in the post you quoted. And environment/upbringing can affect biology. But I do not think it is at all a substantiable claim to say that a crucial factor in the rise of transexuality is more "hormonal imbalances in fetuses". Frankly just a silly thing to say with such confidence. Tell a transexual that they probably feel they way they do because their mom ate the wrong food when she was pregnant.

Is it biological? No? So then it has to be environmental? Not that either? So what the fuck is everyone arguing...? Same shit in the LGBT thread.

It seems half of you are either arguing a dichotomy of nature vs nurture, or some arbitrary combination of the two. That's why I asked in the other thread; where the fuck is this line so we have a constant to debate over? That's what I think is the biggest issue here, everyone's trying to make points on different parts of the argument, then just straw-manning (basically the internet in general).

Yeah except it's not debating when you're all arguing 9,000 different directions and strawmanning one another the entire thread.

Don't get mad at me for having logical standards rooted in conceptual fucking consistency, unlike 90% of you here.

You don't have to logic if you don't want to, just don't pretend you are when you aren't.

It's almost like there are people who think deeper than you on topics, craaaazy bro!

Who is strawmanning  anyone here. What are u even talking about. I think my personal explanation for peaks in transexuality was pretty logical. Regardless of whether or  not I agree with it, Asantes was at least based in logical thinking. I dont see how you refusing to take part in a debate because it is a complex subject without a definitive conclusion makes you think you are thinking "deeper" than everyone. Youre actin weird n snobby.

Other thread bro, as I said in my first post. Here's an example:

LGBTQ+ is a sickness pushed by predators and attracts pedophiles.

Interesting. Very eloquent.

That's a fucking straw man.

It's clear most of you are set in your positions and are unreasonable AF in considering other points. That's my point. If anyone is acting weird here it's you dude by thinking this shit constitutes any "debatable" integrity at all.

I read an article on this topic recently and I thought it was interesting.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/culture-mind-and-brain/201811/why-is-transgender-identity-the-rise-among-teens

"many of the youth in the survey had been directly exposed to one or more peers who had recently "come out" as trans. Next, 63.5 percent of the parents reported that in the time just before announcing they were trans, their child had exhibited a marked increase in Internet and social media consumption"

That isnt a strawman

You can always leave and go have and have a debate with people of your own incredibly high intellectual caliber and depth :nerd: Instead of the strawmanning, non-critical thinkers like us plebs.

Pretty silly to come in and act like you're superior than people having a conversation because you feel like you could have it better. Have at it then, bud.

I agree. But if transgender is an illness, why wouldn't homosexuality be an illness? They are not too far off, IMO
