hey Domey,
The dunking water would only colonize your substrate if it had tiny pieces of mycelium in it. It is possible to break up a colonized PF jar and just throw all the broken up pieces in a bag with the rest of your substrate. To do this you must use COMPLETELY sterile technique and it is not easy since you will be exposing the colonize jar to the air and then dumping in into the substrate (exposing it to the air). I have done it before in zip lock bags by 1) filling the bag with substrate and microwaving it 2) allowing to cool 3) spraying lysol in air and washing hands 4)opening jar and quickly putting the whole-colonized jar into the bag w/ the substrate 5) quickly closing bag 6)breaking up PF jar from the outside of the bag with hands 7) shaking and covering in alum. foil and incubated.
I believe there is a pictorial somewhere that explains better...

Everything I ask is for informational purposes only. There is no truth to what i say. I am lying.
